Georgia World Congress Center to reopen as overflow COVID-19 care facility

Cases and hospitalizations have skyrocketed in December in Georgia, past their previous summer heights. There are nearly 3,700 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Georgia now, well beyond the summer peak of about 3,200.

The seven-day moving average of daily new cases is over 4,800, compared to a summer peak of about 3,700.

That soaring caseload is putting a strain on hospital resources. More than 87% of ICU beds are in use, according to state figures, and more than 83% of all general inpatient hospital beds are taken.

Ventilators in use have gone from under 900 to almost 1,300 in the last week.

Well, good news from my neck of the woods... lowest Wednesday cases since November.

Also the first time I've ever seen Maine's cases higher than ours.

I think their relatively lax approach to virus measures in the rural areas compared to here is finally catching up with them.

NH numbers are biased high due to a couple of shithole towns on the MA border... in my personal observations in rural areas NH takes things more seriously than ME.

I often get funny looks from people as I'm rushing around a store.

Aside from delays at checkout, which I try to avoid by choosing the right time of day, I haven't spent more than 5 to 10 minutes in a store since spring.

I hit that shit like I'm taking part in a heist, in and out no fucking around... have a plan before I walk through the door as to where I'm going and what I'm getting and if shit runs long I head to exfil settling for what I managed to grab instead of going for the vault.
