Feeling pretty heartsick tonight, 4.30 pm on christmas eve 2020. It snowed a little for about 20 minutes but is otherwise warm for the time of year, a little windy, rain now falling.

Went to town for a few things i need before the stores close for who knows how long due to tier four lockdown.Well, technically we are still tier three but bordering a tier four, and there are rumours that tier four is not too many days away.

Usually on christmas eve there are people drunk, singing, dressed in santa hats, lots of small children and parents, stores crowded, people carrying shopping, grocery stores absolutely jam packed.Carol singers, people collecting for charity.

Today there was just me and a few other people, all looking sombre, even the stores were not paying the loops of christmas music, usually its so noisy in the stores with the music playing, but no, silence.

Then the groceries, usually there are empty shelves of party items, but today they had so much left of cakes, pastries, savouries, nobody having parties or just very small ones.What was emptying very quickly was the nonperishables, the canned goods.

For a long time people had stopped obeying the social distance rules but today I saw people standing even further away from each other, people are worried.

Happy Christmas GLP, 2020 was just the start.

I mean, you could scrub up and light some candles. Make an evening of it! Where's your sense of romance this Christmas, TB???

Just have Christmas in July. We already have everything booked.

I just read the entire family the riot act, including Mr. LJS -- NO MORE cloth masks of any type. N-95s when we go out, or don't go the fuck out!!!!!!!

Granny update:

Awesome news. Looks like she has kicked COVID. The doctor expects to release her tomorrow or the next day. She has always been badass.

Bad news: It appears COVID has greatly accelerated her dementia. The doctor has given her 3-6 months. Damage caused by low oxygen and grey matter death that comes with COVID.

A note: don't let the pics of friends and family on Instagram, FB etc get you down. Sure, they are posting bright and happy stuff for the holidays but most of them feel at least partially the same as you. Its a weird year and it will be a weird holiday season. Remember that Spring in coming for us Northern hemisphere folks in a few months.
