AC 71- i remember your story from before. it is 1 of many that leave us scratching our heads. this virus infects some and not others.we have no way to say it will or won't infect so and so specifically. your aunts prior ailments may play a role in that.

however, we can not base the entire world on what happened to 1 fmmily or even the 10 or so reports that have went simialrly. we really are not scientists enuf to diagnose how the virus will act in certain ppl. no way to say u or i will have such and such reactions.

without knowing we won't b affected and have a serious case of the disease, we can only avoid the vius. we also have no idea how the virus will affect even u in say 2 more years. u may have been lucky.u may not have gotten enuf exposure. and then the dreaded question-what happens when u get a 2nd dose?

Next, your assumption of evolution towards a benign cold is flawed. Let me explain why:

"Normal" viruses have a vested interest in your survival. Longer infections mean more spread.. this is evolutionarily successful...

THIS virus has cracked a major problem: IT MAKES YOU MOST INFECTIOUS BEFORE SYMPTOMS APPEAR - and in ~30% of people, symptoms never appear.

What does this mean?

It means the virus no lnger really cares (evolutionarily) whether you live or die. It has already done its spreading before you get to that stage...


BUT
There is a catch..

This virus has also discovered that it can continue to spread after that initial period if it makes you so ill that you need a hospital. That way, it can infect ambulance staff, ER nurses etc.. so...

In fact, this virus has a selection pressure to become MORE lethal.
