Let's get one thing about me "straight" up-front. When it comes to sexuality, I'm about as hetero as they come. If a gay guy came on to me, I'd be like, "No way, bro. I'm a straight-up party boy who's into chicks." Yup, one gay dude wouldn't stand a chance. It would take at least four or five gay guys strapping me down to make it inside me. The only thing I can think of is that there’s a 2 or 3 month lag between China and illness in other countries.

When we are really having problems China will be recovering. They have the population to do ok after this.

Meanwhile we might have to bring troops home from abroad - like Okinawa - to maintain order in the US.

So the sinister things I can think of - and I have no evidence....I’ve just read too many Tom Clancy type books - would be a move on Hong Kong and Taiwan.

I hope the pentagon is smart enough to provision and put our subs out to sea to wait this out and prevent the crews from being infected. They could stop an invasion of Taiwan if that’s what this is about.

The other thing I worry about is that this is an attempt to derail western economic hegemony. I think the trade war hurt them a lot more than we knew, and trump has ratcheted up the pressure by having the fbi round up chicom spies and charging Huawei with RICO. We’ve even approached two of the chicoms illegal islands well within the 13 mile limit. Twice.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I’ve read a lot of good fictional books on pandemics...”Year Zero” by Jeffrey Long was good. So was “The Third World War” by Humphrey Hawksley.

The closest thing I’ve read to this situation was “The Jakarta Pandemic” by Steven Konkoly. It’s a fairly quick read, not as grim as “One Second After”, and the scan from the book to the kindle version has typos. But it’s like an instruction manual for this situation. It was written in 2008 and it’s like he had a crystal ball. It’s not one of those prepper books that teaches the reader overtly by mentioning specific products. But it teaches you about the importance of maintaining an effective quarantine as well as how to gradually build up a large quantity of supplies, using the oldest items and replacing them with new. It also deals with the collapse of social services, like the police and power. Finally it deals with the lengths that desperate people will go to if they are starving and think you have food. It’s a great book. I read it a few times several years ago. Highly recommended. All of the books I mentioned are highly recommended, but “The Third World War” is good too because it deals with geopolitics and biowarfare. And of course China is front and center in it.

From Feb 12th.

On the 16th (today) the post was made on the popular boards for coronavirus, the one that uses the /r subs but cannot be linked here. From the relative saying that now they are both being treated in the ICU and they are in that condition.

One to watch for those saying that this does not affect people of Non Asians.

Since that article from ktla was posted, apparently the wife mentioned in that article is also being treated in the ICU. From the post on the sub from today, ". My uncle is having a hard time breathing and my aunt is a week behind him with all her symptoms."

Also mentioned, they are non-smokers and "obsessively healthy" people.

And all this coincides with Trin getting into the China Virus thing.
