This virus is dangerous, but it seems that there is also ALOT of propaganda, hyping + downplaying the virus to cause confusion and split parties. Perhaps to pit the pro-gov party of sheep vs the "fearmonger" anti-gov party (us), that is aware

It should be stressed that the 2% death rate is almost surely pure fantasy and wrong, since it is calculated based on 'official' Chinese numbers that virtually everyone agrees are completely fake.

Would the Chinese government have locked down 750 million people and enacted this degree of draconian measures over a mere 2% death rate? Of course not.

Furthermore, even the fake Chinese numbers imply that around 15% of patients will die without extreme medical intervention (which won't be available once the hospitals get overwhelmed).

It is extremely likely that the true death rate is at least 30-50%, and may be as high as 98%.

Governments are doing everything possible to keep the true death rate hidden, since it would cause panic and collapse civilization. They're also waiting until their citizens see the horror up close and personal, because then the citizens will be scared enough to voluntarily call for draconian control measures...which might actually be one of the underlying strategic reasons for why this bioweapon was released.

During WW2 Malta had about a third of the population and had much more agriculture. Why would we get help from ANYONE? The problem is EVERYWHERE will be dealing with this.

Plus there may be others that have been infected but shaken it off with minimal symptoms whose results would come back negative if tested and who possibly have immunity. We simply don't have sufficient data at the moment to bandy about scary fatality rate estimates

In all seriousness I went to my local Chinese takeaway on Wednesday here in a small south east village.

Since Thursday night have come down with a upper respiratory infection and crippling lumbar back pain, sneezing and a nasty upper gum mouth ulcer. My wife is also symptomatic although not quite as bad.

Should I be worried? I keep thinking they may have mixed with extended family over te Chinese new year and due to the incubation period it could be passed easily to customers.
