Report from Walmart in Mid-America. They were a 24-hour Walmart and as most have reduced hours. They have two front entrances, and the only one open now is the one to the grocery and home area. This is where it gets good, they have it roped off with orange fencing into single lines, like cattle going to slaughter into a cattle shoot. That is what you have to go through to get into the store to shop. Over the intercom they are constantly telling people to stay 6 foot apart. Employees are going through the aisles with picket signs, like in a protest, that say "Stay 6-foot across." I was hot and agitated by the whole behavior and how I was treated as a customer.

I called the store manager back when I returned home, and was told they are only doing what management is telling them to do. I told her to send it up that we are not cattle, we are customers, and this humiliating and degrading.

That’s great! I don’t know where you live. I live on the periphery of the NY epicenter. There are lots of cases in my small town. I went to the Walgreens drive thru last week wearing a mask. There was a line of cars and I was towards the end and some people who were driving by to the exit passed and rubbernecked me. I felt so satisfied, almost as satisfied as I was at the end of January and in February when I started going to Costco and the grocery buying enormous amounts of food. Invariably there would be at least one person (using the short cart filled with like a small milk, a quart of Ben and Jerry’s, an apple and a loaf of bread) would look at me like I was crazy. One day I pushed and pulled full carts thru the grocery store lol. I was so smug when I got to the check out line and started unloading my carts. :)

I don’t have a full face respirator, but I do have a 3M half face respirator and Dewault goggles designed for working with mild. They fit over my eyeglasses and form a seal. I also have N95s but I’m going to use the half face respirator and goggles.

Out of curiosity, what cartridges or filters do you use? I didn’t know which kind to get and even back at the end of January these things were going quickly online, so I ordered a bunch of each. What was weird was even though all 3 types had shipped and I was able to track them - ie they were on their way - the order for the particulate filters was cancelled. Mid way to me! So I have the organic gas and the general filters, which I believe combine the particulate and organic vapor filters.

So I have a question. How long do these filters last? And do you know if they have a shelf life once opened? I’m going to the grocery store too, probably take me an hour at most. Can that filter sit there for another three weeks until I have to run to the pharmacy or does it stop being effective after a while? I assume they will work in 3 weeks, but they do come sealed up so I thought I’d ask. Stay safe!
