On the ground: I've been out of work now for a few days. My roommates had their two adult daughters come to visit against mine and the wife's advice nearly a month ago for a 2 week visit. Guess who's still here?

At least I've finally gotten them on the "don't go out in groups, sanitize, properly avoid cross contamination, and mask train". They've past the state of denial and are kinda accepting the situation.

Most people down here are now wearing masks and following CDC guidelines. Pretty impressive. All the stores are working to avoid infection.

I'm still waiting on the wild hogs to start running in the streets so I can get some target practice and dinner for the neighbors.

Whether this gets better next week or in a few months. It's already been a hell of a ride.

According to the site I linked below, there have been a total of 47,126 suicides in the USA for 2020. There have been about 14 weeks so far this year which equates to 3,366 suicides per week, on average. So 10,000 in three weeks isn't necessarily wrong, but it appears thats what it would be anyway, even without the Coronavirus.
ETA it was alleged that there were 10,000 suicides in the previous three weeks that were due to the mental stress brought on by Covid. This shows that regardless of Covid, there would have been 10,000 suicides in those three weeks.
