way way back to FEB. there was a case of ppl being infected in an apartment building. they had no contact amongst the ppl. the claim was the virus was spread via the drain vent pipes traveling between floors.to do that the virus had to go thru the trap pipe which is shaped to hold water to prevent fumes from coming up the pipe. the virus was pulled up thru this pipe with help from the air exhaust vent.

so the virus can survive moving thru water.can it stay ini water long term? so far we haven't seen any data to say 1 way or other.

what surprised me a few weeks ago and has since more so is not everyone is requiring masks. i know here @GLP most have been in them since FEB-MARCH. PA went end March,i believe.next week NY STATE mandated masks. i assumed i guess that the other states followed suit. end MAY, VA started to require masks.CA just this week.

masks do seem to slow down the spread. i think ppl weren't traveling out of the infected centers as much either. the fire raged in NYC but didn't jump to smaller communities in high #'s. with summer,we are all screwed up.

what was worse to hear is very recently the CDC and govern. "learned" they should do contact tracing. that is like grade school level education from our leaders. they think they have the virus controlled like now kids know how to use a crayon they can graduate as a brain surgeon. that is how the govern worded the value of their "new knowledge". yippee

I doubt water vapor from drains is a effective means of transmission but it's possible. If you are worried about it keep some sunflower oil or alike around and pour a little of it in drains after use, it will form a thin film over the water that will prevent it from evaporating. Old trick I used in my student apartment to keep the sewage smell away if I wasn't there for a extended period of time.

I'm personally more worried about farts though, seems like a much more likely spreader.

If their employees were actually happy and taken care of, the smile would reach their eyes and no one would be gazing into their dead stares wondering which direction their lips were moving in.

Also, flight attendants are major vectors. Who the hell wants their droplets all over the plane?

the govern of NY S and C is smart. they have this under control. course we heard that before. they had a brilliant plan to disinfect the subaway and buses. plan was to do the whole fleet over a 3day period. WHILE IT WAS RUNNING. so if u disinfect car A it is in service tomorrow with car C that has not been cleaned.like ppl never change buses? it iwas idiotic as hell.

u don't have a j pipe under your sink? a pipe with a curve in it? your toilet by the way has 1 built in.

Living in an apartment, I can point out a good ten vectors...

The shared air in enclosed hallways.
The door knobs.
The elevator.
The elevator buttons.
The open windows with coughers inside.
The mailboxes.
The rubbish area.
The parking (cars carry a million particles from all over and the virus rides on particles)
The common pathways tracking things in and out.
The shared air moving between the balconies, apartment doors, halls, and open windows.

Thank you for the tip!! I will definitely do that cuz whenever I use the kitchen sink the smell is stupid strong in the bathroom....

I'm not that concerned about it since I'm in a single family home but still on city water and sewer.

I hope the Berkey filter actually filters this virus...

Yes I have them under the sinks but don't have a trap thing going from the sewer pipe to my plumbing. The smell comes up through the tub drain.

masks,goggles,gloves from your apt to the outside even. keep a bucket of bleach water near your door to drop the goggles into when u come home.can even kick shoes off out there too.
