You know, the amount of misinformation, disinformation, manipulated information, and plain old lies regarding COVID over the past month has made finding the truth geometrically more difficult than it was in January and February. So, for what it's worth, here are the attitudes I have adopted (in no particular order):

1: The government cannot prevent the virus from doing what it wants to do, nor are they going to help us if/when we get sick. The only thing they care about is how the virus can be used to their advantage politically and keeping the worker bees producing honey regardless of the consequences.

2: Anyone can manipulate the official numbers to back up their viewpoint or agenda. Cherry-picked data can prove anything you want it to.

3: People are too stupid to recognize a threat to their survival, and they do not care about anyone except themselves.

4: The tendency of the non-maskers to mock and belittle the maskers is seriously pissing me off. This is occurring within my own company (I am the only person who even has a mask on their person, let alone wearing one when I feel it's necessary). And apparently it's okay to legitimize that as a source of entertainment for everyone else.

5: I'm done warning people. Right now it's about my wife and me preparing for the potential of a second wave and the potential for the collapse of the food supply chain and/or economy. As for family and friends, I've been telling them to prepare for a man-made or natural disaster for years, and I've been preaching fire and brimstone about this virus for almost six months. Anyone who shows up at our house expecting us to take them in after SHTF is going to get either a bullet or an arrow center mass and left where they fall to serve as a scarecrow for other would-be moochers.

6: I have spent most of my adult life educating and preparing myself for a nuclear war that would end civilization as we know it. Granted this isn't a nuclear threat, but this is the first time in 40 years when I have actually believed that it's coming and that it's unavoidable. It's been haunting me for almost six months like no nuclear crisis ever has.

7: GLP is now pretty much the only place I can discuss it with like-minded people who don't dismiss my concerns as the rantings of a paranoid delusional man. I renewed my annual membership based on this thread alone. Thank you to those of you I have come to like and respect. You are appreciated.

Those are my thoughts. Whatever happens, I will be prepared for it. If nothing happens; great. I'll be able to start going to my all-you-can-eat seafood buffet again. If the world as we know it comes to an end, I'm ready for that too. And everything in between.

Very well said, and that is basically my position at this point. We are not under official lockdown, but we are taking all precautions and measures that we can. Teens don't like it, but we're doing it for them. Trying to get orders of things hopefully packaged during a "safe" time.

Odds are in their favor, 40-49 is ~18% of cases and .8% of deaths in Texas. If they don't get hospitalized the odds increase greatly.

All this is true. I know a fre radiologists and nurses who do not care avout the political angle, but only serving their patients. They all have shated weird stories on covid 19. It is not a normal virus that follows the same M.O..

The administration is doing itself no favors with their brightest followers saying stupid shit like this. This type rhetoric plays to the ignorant among their followers, but never the smartest.

And that is how you either win or lose an election. Democrats can appease their glutton of ignorant voters, but republicans have a more intellogent base in the middle and this turns them off big time.

Lost trust. These people are fools.
