Mad, fellow Texan, as I related, 5 out of 10 of my employees now have the virus. Only one tested and no official results yet.

None counted officially by the state.

However, since they ALL lost the sense of taste and smell, I consider that to be almost 100% proof that they are infected. Most exhibited the classic symptoms.

I don't believe the official numbers. Unfortunate for our talented number crunchers, but I think the official numbers are wrong.

The Queen and I are in voluntary self-quarantine on the farm in Brazoria County for the duration, whatever that is.

I order most things for delivery to my front gate. About every two weeks I do a parking lot pickup and then leave the stuff in the pickup bed to bake in the Texas sun for a week or so.

We have fresh vegetables from the garden and our chickens provide eggs. When Sweet Heart calves in September, we will have Jersey milk.

Still working from home using email to serve customers.

Quarantine is not so bad with The Queen.

I met him all the way back in 1982.

We did not discuss aliens.

BTW, during my career, I worked for four ex-astronauts, Brewster Shaw, Hank Hartsfield, Dick Covey, and Rich Clifford (note that it now takes an effort to remember names from over 20 years ago).

I only knew one NASA guy who was public about his belief in aliens.

BTW, astronauts are just PEOPLE with many flaws and beliefs. If you look long enough, you will find just about any opinion among them.

What I believe:

1. No one crosses light years of space and then crash lands in New Mexico.

2. The tech that the aliens allegedly use is too primitive.

3. Any civ millions of years more advanced than ours will have tech that looks like magic.

My hypothesis: The galaxy is incredibly huge and very old. The evolution of intelligent life seems inevitable on many worlds.

So, where ARE they? (Enrico Fermi's question).

Don't know, but I suspect that some malevolent force wipes out budding civilizations.

My garden is fried from that heat wave a couple weeks ago. Canned plenty of tomatoes last month. Only thing doing decent is squash, eggplant, and peppers.

Chickens were giving me 7-8 eggs day, dropped to about 2 a day. Typical for the ladies in the mid 90s heat.

May I add to this by pointing out that pretty much daily the evidence is getting stronger that my biggest fear of previously having had COVID-19 will be a significant co-morbidity in subsequent infections.

I hope this thing mutates into something less severe quickly.

It's at the back of my mind every day.

I've had this twice. The second time has only been half as intense. But every day I wonder if I'm just going to drop dead anyway.

The scarring of the lungs never really goes away. The anosmia is indicative of nerve damage, that never goes away and there is only so retraining your nervous system can do to re-route the connections.

These are the strong indicators that scare me to heck. I'm sure someone more qualified in medicine could correct and/or expand on this but those are immediate effects we have well documented by now.

We are only now getting to grips that we have a respiratory virus that causes significant cardio-vascular damage.

When it comes to neurological issues, I'm more concerned over my sporadic loss of language the first time, the mental fuzziness and forgetfulness, and the fact that for a few minutes I needed walls to stand the other day.

I'm sorry you have to put up with that crap at work. The anti-mask league feels compelled to be nasty about the mask issue. I don't understand their vicious attitude about it, but it must be some kind of coping mechanism for their own fear. Otherwise they wouldn't care.

Yes, but as I stated it's indicative of nerve damage. Nerves don't regenerate like normal tissue to my understanding, it's a "retraining issue" to get the right signals to the right place.

This virus seems more then happy to jump around the body much more then common respiratory viruses. So if we see immediate damage near the respiratory system in even light cases it is likely to party in other parts of the nervous system in those where the damage is more widespread.

Once again, these conclusions are based on my basic understanding of anatomy and making simple deductions from there and I hope someone will correct me down below.
