P13315 CC-- thanks for asking how I'm doing. I'm hanging in there.... some days are ok, and I can focus on things I need to do, learn, etc. Some days are pure nihilistic despair. I'm aiming for some kind of existential acceptance and detachment. Still staying bunkered down. CA is one of the places one doesn't really want to be right now... though at least I'm not in the southern part. I started teaching my summer class via Zoom ... it's a new and different experience. Steep learning curve for me with a lot of new tech I had to purchase (my old computer setup wasn't cutting it, at all), but it's a good distraction from the doom. At least I can learn some new skills while I'm SIP... seems I'll need them for the foreseeable future. I needed to upgrade anyhow, and this is an investment in my future (if I even have one, but if not, then the point is moot.) I was scrambling and skimming and skipping pages on this thread just to get caught up yesterday. I'm also an oldschool GLPer who used to come here for actual conspiracy theory and interesting angles on the breaking news. Also left the board a few years ago, for the same reasons as y'all, but came back for this thread. I still skim the main board, but rarely read much there, and never post. How's everyone else doing? P13315 Update on bar hopping friend with Covid: Quoting: Tarnished Halo Has been clear to go back to work after 10 days from onset of symptoms. Is feeling 100% better and is weaning off steroids. She knows me well and knows how I feel about the virus so she let me follow her closely through her illness. July 2nd tested positive. The first few days she had a temp of 101, fatigue, cough, sob with exertion and felt like she couldn't take a deep breath "feels like someone is sitting on my chest". I could tell how sob she was even on the phone. Never lost her sense of taste or smell, but it was altered. Not sure if it's back to normal yet or not. July 5 had a strange flashing light in the peripheral vision of her right eye. Stated it was still there when she closed her eyes. Took a nap and it went away never to return. When the fever when away, the sob and fatigue stayed. Spoke with her doc and had a steroid inhaler and oral steroids prescribed that I picked up for her Tuesday. Since starting steroids she has improved daily until no more symptoms. I made her get out in the sun every day. She put a lawn chair out there and napped. When it was raining she sat in her garage with the door up. She took Vit C, D, Zinc and omega 3. Hydrated constantly. Hopefully she'll still feel good after weaning off the steroids. I'll keep y'all posted. I'm so glad she's doing well! I can tell you that the sense of smell is weird. When I breath in its like a numb sensation but I can still smell maybe 70%. Fatigue comes and goes. Not short of breath or coughing.... Yet. Definitely can tell theres something going on though. Wish us luck. Hopefully your symptoms will stay mild! I told her not to overdo it when she started feeling well. She thinks her days in the sun helped her. She said she always felt better after being outside. Yeah not too easy down south of Houston. 100+ degrees everyday. Was outside with daughter in the pool for a couple hrs today. We feel your pain in Mississippi!! She said it felt good like she was "sweating it out". Do what your comfort level allows. Glad you have a pool!! People suck. |

There are people now conducting remote classes via YouTube. There are also many videos on how to do it. I watched a few when I was looking into it for you. I learned how to read the charts for cutting angles and using the machine. It looks like it would be a good skill to learn that would go nicely with your interest in gems.
