P13315 Texas hospitalizations starting to flatten out, only about 500 in the past 4 days when there was 1400 in the previous two 4 day periods. Quoting: R. Wordsworth It doesn't make sense, given the average 9k new cases every day. I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm thinking something else is happening. Icu's at capacity, people not being admitted into hospitals, etc. ICU's reported at less than 10% capacity in Texas. There's a wicked delay in the reporting of new cases, when I got tested the results came back in 36 hours... but I think in these southern states it's like a week or two. The hospitalization data is much more real time. If I'm right, by next week we should see the cases start to drop quite a bit. If cases stay linear you reach a point where you start hitting refreshment rate. Basically a point where people either get discharged or die at the same rate at which they are admitted. But we're pretty much flying blind at this point due to the lag in testing/ limited capacity. Don't watch the ICU availability too much, beds and equipment can be added and with the army medical staff etc it's likely the availability is growing daily as new capacity comes online, making available beds a good indicator for stress on the system but a bad one for what is happening on the ground. Vaid Status: It's a small world after all! |
