They are begging for travel nurses in Houston right now. I'm a member of several travel nursing groups and they are always asking about housing in Houston.

A while back there was a brief discussion on whether or not the corpses of COVID victims presented an infection vector or not. I found this while poking around Indiana's Department of Health Guidelines:

Engineering Control Recommendations: Autopsies on decedents with known or suspected COVID-19 should be conducted in Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms (AIIRs).

PPE Recommendations: Double surgical gloves interposed with a layer of cut-proof synthetic mesh gloves, fluid-resistant or impermeable gown, waterproof apron, goggles or face shield, and NIOSH-certified disposable N-95 respirator or higher. Surgical scrubs, shoe covers, and surgical cap should be used per routine protocols.

Sounds like Indiana thinks there's a risk there.

Just got word yesterday that our school district has 2 options: online or full time. To be re-examined each grading period. Mini & Micro Mini LJSes will be taking the online option. Adults won't even wear their damn masks and wash their damn hands. Kids will be a nightmare, and asshole kids may even try to intentionally infect other kids.

Depending on which hospital, Galveston Beach could be close, or far away. I do not doubt a beachfront property would be a welcome place to relax after a hellish day dealing with COVID. I will call the management company and see what we need to do. I can adjust my rates to make the place within the travel budgets of the hospital.

Oh I get what you mean about discussing -I've been a glper for many years now. Just meant I don't know much about it personally and there's people who know more than I do on this thread. I like talking about covid but biology and such never interested me as much as chemistry and physics I guess. To each their own

I dont know if TX is one of the states that will cover tuition ... but I homeschooled my son to a HS diploma using K12 International Academy ...his education is far superior to my DD who did both private catholic and then public HS magnet program.

Lots of work but it is structured, with deadlines. HS credits are issued. Can do by semester or ala carte by choosing courses. Online discussion forums had kids from all around the world. Teachers avail online

We have had Amish women into our hospital that fell off a horse. Took her blood and it was blue-black. She tested positive for Covid19.

Granted she came in because she was injured but was the result of passing out on a horse.

You can easily do your own study. The size of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is already well-established at 125 nanometers, or 0.125 microns. The virus rarely floats in the air by itself, it is usually attached to a larger droplet from sneezing or coughing that measures 0.5 microns or larger. An N-95 mask will stop 95% of all particles 0.3 microns in size or larger (hence the name). An N100 mask will stop 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns in size or larger.

If those professional grade masks are barely sufficient to protect you from the virus, how effective do you think a cloth mask made from cotton is going to be? Not only is the fabric itself incapable of stopping particles that small, cloth masks do not form a seal around the mouth and nose, providing HUGE gaps where there is no filtration at all.

Here is how masks work in relation to the pandemic:

Cloth mask/dust mask - Will provide SOME protection to others if the wearer coughs or sneezes by trapping larger droplets that would be carrying the virus. It will NOT stop virus particles being exhaled from the lungs. It provides almost ZERO protection to the wearer from other people.

Surgical mask/medical mask - Same as above, but with a slightly higher protection factor.

NIOSH Approved N/R/P 95/99/100 disposable mask - Will provide much better protection to the wearer due to the mask's ability to filter out small particles. However, they are not designed to be reused and will eventually degrade with continued use until they no longer offer protection.

NIOSH Approved N/R/P 95/99/100 respirator - These masks will provide the maximum amount of protection to the wearer from all particles 0.3 microns or larger, assuming the wearer has conducted proper fit testing and knows how to put it on and take it off without contaminating himself. HOWEVER, these masks have zero filtration on exhaling, so they will not protect other people from the person wearing it. These masks can be decontaminated and reused and the filters replaced as needed.

I wear my N100 daily, and I sleep better at night for it.

Before anyone freaks out, the Florida dashboard seems to have some technical issue's and for some reason shows roughly double the actual numbers. They probably forgot to throw out yesterdays data set before replacing it.

I plan to look at K12 for supplementing. In fact have bought some of their stock in recent weeks.

The both did very well with the online last Spring after the schools shut down.

Our school is starting the first 3 weeks online. I'm sure that will be extended. This is a heavy pro-trump, anti mask town so people are all worked up over it.
