Just finished my weekend shift. This weekend was unusually slow for this time of year. Our docs get paid by the patient and were pissed off that the numbers were low. One even commented "the corona virus is scaring everyone away" I told him I didn't blame them. He went on to say that the flu was more dangerous, blah, blah, blah. I told him he needed to refresh his browser and look at the 2-3% death rate of corona and it's just starting. He looked shocked that I had numbers and could argue his point. Sigh.

As for the younger nurses, they're more concerned now than ever. They got word of us being quarantined if/when we are exposed and that has gotten their attention.

I'm off work for the next 5 days for my usual schedule. Going shopping tomorrow so I'll update if I see anything unusual.

They are still locked down so they have likely dropped the spread. That will not fly in the west. There are rumors that factory owners in China were ordered to turn on all of the machines in the factories to make it look like business as usual. It is all a bad attempt to mitigate. Mitigate is eventually survival of the fittest...sadly, likely not me.

So, I'm definitely fucked and I'm just trying to come to grips with it. I live in Seattle and I am a personal tutor, so I drive all over to people's houses. I know some of you will call me idiotic, but I don't have any family or friends in the area to rely on. I have to make money and it's my only job right now.
Anyway, I was at a kid's house tonight and the topic of the CoronaVirus came up. We agreed that Seattle is screwed and we'll all likely get it. The mom then mentions that she is pretty sure her husband already had it. He came home in mid-January from Taiwan and got pneumonia, was literally coughing up blood. She shrugged it off and said that he didn't make anyone else sick. Except, the kid had seemed sick and off to me the whole session. I'm pretty sure I already have it anyway, so I guess it doesn't make a difference, but YIKES.
And yes, I have lots of preps. Don't think it'll make a difference anyway as I probably was exposed to the virus weeks ago. You have to live your life, you know? I'm ready to face whatever comes.

Side note, stores are still stocked, but lots of things are picked through. No toilet paper in stores, water mostly sold out, etc.
