P13315 So some very solid info that I just got from my LEO friend down in Massachusetts... people here had posted a few days ago that they noticed a ton of power company trucks all over the place, both convoys and just sitting around in parking lots. Apparently the deal with that is authorities are extremely worried that a normal power outage due to a tree going down or a car hitting a pole would cause mass panic, making people think shit just totally hit the fan because of CoV. Because of this they are having the linemen pre-staged all over the place to respond immediately to any power outage and get it back on as soon as possible so people don't run downtown and start looting stores thinking society just collapsed. |

I'm sure you'll struggle with the guilt but like I tell my wife since she took the offer (under my pressure) to work from home in tele-medicine instead of the ED, "you can't keep someone warm for long by lighting yourself on fire". It's going to be a good long while until this is all over and we're going to need good people in the struggle to put things right again, so keeping yourself safe is the right thing to do always, so you can make it to that part. The beach will be there when all is said and done, it won't be going anywhere, need a week or two beach camping myself these days! So you understand how hard it is for us ED nurses to leave our crew. It's almost like losing a step-family member to divorce. You love them, care for them, but you have to leave the reason you're together and it sucks. We've all said we're going to get a group tattoo of either the virus or a N95 mask when it's all settled. The final decision was made when my son told me to quit because he was scared I'd get it. He's 20 and rarely speaks his emotions, but I saw the fear in his eyes and heard it in his voice. My husband was going to support me either way, but he was overjoyed when I told him I resigned. I'm headed to the islands as soon as it's safe to do so! Ice cold beer and a bottle of rum is on the horizon! People get moved around for a reason. I have absolute faith that where you chose to go is where you will be needed- and the same for the person coming in behind you. It’s all for good :):hf: I tell everyone else that "everything happens for a reason", but I have a hard time listening to my own advice!! People suck. |
