Gotta admit, a power outage now would not have the same effect on me today that it would have at this time last year...

They run the well pump, sump pumps, refrigerator/freezers, and our Internet if it's working. We use oil lamps, candles, and LEDs for light for the most part. Still, hard to mute the sound of a running generator... And unless you have a 200 gallon propane tank, it won't last very long either. Unless it is natural gas and the gas supply doesn't go down with the power. I have plenty of gasoline in long-term storage that I rotate once a year. I can keep the gennies running for the better part of a year if I ration their use wisely. No need to keep them running 24/7.
