This is consistent with the observation that severity of symptoms is linked to viral load. Which does not bode well for care homes. The stanford requited volunteers via facebook with the promise of offering a free covid-19 test at a time when testing was very limited, this most likely drew in people whom couldn't get tested and most likely let them to spread the application to others they knew where symptomatic. They used a test that was of questionable reliability. ~20% false positive rate. They then found 60 positive results in 3300 samples and extrapolated that to the entire population. Based on the way they tested and sampled the population the study is invalid. Then having the main authors report the results in MSM pre-publication as their results being backed science they themselves performed reveals a clear bias. To get their conclusions out there asap. The Ohio study sampled 200 people of whom 60 disclosed possibly having symtomps, hence not making it representative for a larger population. Getting the science right in these conditions is hard. Don't believe the headlines on anything. |
