In answer to the question directed about me whether cases were becoming less severe here in the Bay Area -- no, they're not. It's just that we finally have enough tests in some areas to actually test people at the hospitals in San Francisco. Some testing is available in other parts of the Bay Area but not nearly enough, so people are going undiagnosed even though it's pretty readily apparent to hospital staff that they are positive. I heard this directly from a hospital staffing member who works the COVID tents.

I have several friends who work in health professions and they're all saying the same thing. Not enough PPE, not enough tests, patients who aren't showing severe symptoms being told not to come in for testing, etc.

Therefore, our reported numbers are deceptive. We have far more cases than we are reporting.

As for the food guidelines and obesity ... that's thought provoking. It could be that they honestly do want people to be conscious of what they're eating, especially if they are doing a lot of ordering takeout, pickup, etc. It could be that they want to control the food supply.

That said, I have had a lot of online friends, and a couple of housemates, complaining of the "quarantine 15" -- less activity and more time on their hands has led to weight gain. Ironic, really, since we should be sheltering at home and rationing our food (which is what I am doing) -- and making sure we get exercise, even it it means resorting to workout videos! Personally, I've taken this time to do a lot of house tasks that have needed doing for ages, and that require me to move, lift, etc. I still do outdoor work at a nursery, too. I care for rescue birds in aviaries there, and help with general maintenance, weeding, etc. I try to go during hours when the nursery is closed, and I am always masked when I go. They're being very strict about social distancing and mask wearing when they are open, as well.

When you do a rough extrapolation from Colorado's population, that would equate to about 3000 infected nationwide, and 150 dead.

Its airborne (18 minutes from a person exhaling as they talk loudly is airborne. That's not droplet dispersion, that's well inside the biowarfare manuals parameters for airborne contaminant)
