but they should be studying real world situations. There is imaging tech available that you could record people sitting around in a restaurant talking and pick up the spittle flying out of their mouths......

ETA: or infrared or whatever they use to pick up ghosts....I mean they could totally study this in a real situation if they wanted real data.
