Masks are only ONE part of the mitigation that goes into suppressing the virus. Plus I highly doubt EVERYONE has been wearing a mask.

However my main point is you're wrong to have assumed that all outbreaks in the world go the same way and last the same length of time. But I know you have a difficult time in accepting facts or official information that goes against what you wish to be the case, so I realize that you prefer not to believe it.

Some outbreaks can only last a matter of a couple of weeks, some for months on end with no end in sight, some in between the two. Neither do they have to be the 'cases skyrocketing into infinity' hyperbole that you came up with, but instead just a high plateau. I suggest you go look at Mexico's excess death figures to see how bad an uncontrolled outbreak can get. Over 200,000 excess deaths so far this year for a population of 120 million. There's barely been any improvement for them during the pandemic so far. Mexico is a prime example of a bad lengthy outbreak, but they're not the only one.

Yeah I know... Mexico can't get a handle on Tuberculosis, of coarse they are fucked with COVID.

But all the outbreaks in first world nations have followed a similar curve, regardless of mitigation measures. You're suggestion that suddenly this time will be different is based on much shakier ground than my suggestion that it will follow the same path it has in scores of outbreaks going back 7 months or so.

And as far as masks, I work on a weekly or at least monthly basis in NH, VT, ME, MA, CT, RI, NY, and NJ. 99% of people have been wearing masks in public since June, this area accounts for about 13% of the US population.

Won't even have to be forced, if I'm offered I'll go for it. Why not take one for the team as a guinea pig? I'm young(ish) and strong with no underlying medical conditions, if there's a severe reaction I have a good chance of recovery compared to others.

I never in my life thought I would type this, but I'm actually on the fence on taking it. Usually, I'm all HELL NAW, but we love to travel internationally and if that's what it takes, then so be it. Now, I'm not going to be in the first round of HCW getting vaccinated, I'll wait for the 2nd or 3rd round if my friends and colleagues don't drop dead form it.

I told my manager that we need to consider the side effects of feeling like ass a few days after the injection before we hit the ENTIRE hospital with it. We don't need everyone calling in sick at the same time.
