The real problem is their battle to get out of 2nd or 3rd world status. With that, everything is a challenge not just COVID. And they will never accomplish that feat while anyone with the motivation to provide their children with a better life than what they have has the option to escape to the US. That's what Biden and his ilk just don't get. We can't evacuate all of South America to the US to fix this problem. We need to fix South America. But the people with the smarts and motivation to do that are getting the fuck out of there. I don't blame them, but as long as that's their best option nothing will change. That's what George S Marshall realized. The USA would soon be in trouble if Europe remained broken after WW2. The Marshall Plan, also known as the European Recovery Program, was a U.S. program providing aid to Western Europe following the devastation of World War II. It was enacted in 1948 and provided more than $15 billion (nearly a quarter of a trilion in todays' money) to help finance rebuilding efforts on the continent. The brainchild of U.S. Secretary of State George C. Marshall. At a minimum, rich countries should be donating excess vaccinations to 3rd world countries, otherwise we don't have even have a chance of getting off this roller-coaster.
