Anonymous Coward User ID: 76140938 Mexico 01/19/2020 06:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's a perplexing one - Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76663377 My car, a Fiat, which we beat the hell out of in the back country started making a rattling noise from under the hood, as if it is a major suspension part with a problem and we can't find it parked. The tires are pointed perfect. The alignment is perfect. Steering perfect. Tire wear perfect. Handling PERFECT, even at 100 mph. Yet there's this clunking rattle on bumps. Any clues? Either a strut, or the intermediate steering shaft. Fiat loved to retain the strut top with a plastic clip. This of course loved to break and the strut top was free to pogo around in the wheel well. If it is the intermediate steering shaft is there a way to quiet it down or am I doomed? It has power steering but not electronic steering. If I were you and I had a Fiat I'd drive it into the lake and report it stolen. Fix It Again, Tony That's not accurate. It has not broken down in 5 years and new they come with a 7 year bumper to bumper. It is 12 years old. They are like Toyota. This is Mexico, not the crap you get in the U.S. |

Even without folding the rear seat forward you can sleep in the back and I have. 121 HP. Not a lot, but it does scoot considering the fuel economy. |

Oh, and I'll add - the inside passenger door handle does not work, however the STOCK CD player, air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors and everything else works and has never broken. On what piece of crap car would that ever be true? Recharged the AC 3 years ago and it held, nothing needed since. Kia may have a long warranty, but 12 years for those items is a stretch to say the least. I have never seen a stock CD player last that long. |

The Fiat I had was back in the gas crunch/energy crisis of the Carter years. For every dollar I saved in fuel I spent two on repairs. Damned thing was a real piece, it was called a Strada and looked like a rounded off Rabbit. It got froze to the driveway one day and broke a shaft inside the transmission and I junked her for good. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78356571 United States 01/19/2020 07:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It does not take a mechanic to answer that one. 750,000 miles with proper maintenance and synthetic oil, and never using it for work. You can drive the same truck until you turn up your toes if you just keep maintaining it. Sure, it might need reboring , a rebuilt crankshaft , a cam or a valve job but back in the day those repairs were fairly common. The thing that kills a truck is the transmission usually, it's damned hard to find a good second hand one anywhere and rebuilding them is more expensive than buying a new one. I wish someone would make a five speed manual transmission and flywheel for my Nissan Titan so I could keep it going myself. |

User ID: 72429079 United States 01/19/2020 07:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’ve got an 04 Jeep tj. During cold weather there’s a whistle that comes from under the hood at idle speeds - when parked, at stop signs, etc. I never hear it except in the winter on cold days. The colder the day, the louder it seems to be. Exhaust manifold? Bearing in a pulley? I’m no mechanic and I don’t want to work on it only to find out I haven’t fixed. Quoting: Hoon1016 No performance problems just annoying; and thanks! It’s a cool thing you’re doing. Pull the dipstick out and see if it goes away. The 4.0 had two fittings on the valve cover. One was grey, one was black. The grey one (toward the firewall) had a built in orifice for the PCV system. If this got swapped for a black one then you had unregulated wide open manifold vacuum drawing on the crankcase. This caused the seals to squeal as air went past them. Will do that in the morning. Thanks! Doesn't anybody feel that all these killers should be killed, and all these healers should be healed, so all of these beggars can be filled... Toes across the floor, Blind Melon |

After 7-8 tries started bit rough then smoothed out . Never done before or after. I’m thinking the vvti gear stuck somehow Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74052290 Question is could thick engine oil have caused this? It's possible the vvt didn't get to lock pin due to the oil. Then it'll move around altering valve timing until it can get enough oil pressure to command it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64627571 Access the data from the left and right impact sensors, overlay them with the yaw data from the accelerometer and underline it with the strain gauge data from the left front frame spar. It sounds like the carbon fiber may be delaminating in the left suspension buck. You should be able to 3d model it to find the crack. |
