When I was a little kid, in the late 60's/early 70's, I had this little 45rpm record. It packed a PUNCH musically, with some mean Sax!

Was this on the list ... ...
I was jamming back in the late 70's to Motown songs like this ...
I grew up in Kokomo In. ... about a hour south of Gary In. where the Jackson's grew up ...
Dad was a auto worker and Mom was a Hair Stylist ...
Music like these songs helped Me and My Sister get thru the cold winters. ... We had a unfinished basement with a console record player ... We would act like We were the band and bang on pot's and pan's while listening to the Music ... Shame that they have turned the "Top Forty" into what they have ...
People don't care how much You know ... till they know how much You care ...

@ 1:10, the most amazing saxophone solo starts, typical of early/mid 1950's "Rockabilly Music" that became popular with the 'Stray Cats' 30 years later

I had replied to another post with this but it is no longer available. Thought I'd share it as a post. What were some of the obscure/non famous records YOU OWNED as a little kid? Hand me downs or other.. Please share.
Here is "Hey You," By Eddie Cooley & the dimples (his back up vocals) Amazing group from the mid-1950's that no one has ever heard about:

FREDDIE MITCHELL AND HIS ORCHESTRA, 1955. THE MOST AMAZING SAXOPHONE PLAYING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC.

The entry reads

A shy, retiring and extremely private man, tenor saxophonist Freddie Mitchell's personality was in direct conflict with his on-stage persona. During the hours he appeared onstage nightly he was transformed into a raving wild-man ; mirroring the histrionics of such peers as Illinois Jacquet, Arnett Cobb and Gatortail Jackson, Mitchell would stomp, shuffle and sway to the rhythm of his band while blowing his own white-hot solos.

-----------------

He was already 37 years old when he performed on "Preachin"

I recorded it to cassette tape & took it to college with me.

Analog sounds so much better than digital, no comparison. I only listen to vinyl, and if I buy a 180 gram LP have to make sure the reissued pressing label was made from the originals, some will press from digital copies, no good!

In 8th grade I was in charge of buying records for the cafeteria jukebox. I bought the usual top 40 pablum like the Beach Boys, 5th Dimension, Diana Ross and the Supremes, etc.

However, my own tastes in music were more eclectic. One of my first albums was Frank Zappa. Of course the Stones, Beatles and any band with horns in them were early albums. I particularly love the White album to this day.

I was born in 1960 and when I was about 6or 7, someone gave my dad a 45 with about 3minutes of someone farting and crapping on a toilet to background music. I can't remember who the "artist" was, but that record was famous in my neighborhood for a couple years. Boys and grown men all thought it was hilarious.

You used to be able to go in a booth and record on what was a rubbery record, that would play on record player. I know they had one in Atlantic City boardwalk back then.

Here it is!
