Oregon here.

We opted out. These bastards wanted to charge $36 a month to read our meters.

After a long and MAJOR battle with Pacific Power, we managed to get it reduced to $9 a month (3 meter reads a year instead of every month)

Just recently, out of the blue, they lowered it to $3 a month, and I am happy about that. It's a far cry from the $36 a month that they WANTED to gouge us with!

Wish i was informed BEFORE they installed!

Also, seems to be a way they are using to set fires!

I like my smart meter, no more having to let the meter reader in my yard..

Those that reject the smart meter needs to have their power cutoff..

smart meters havd very little to do with billing.

a lot to do with monitoring.

first you have been fucked because they now charge you from any line loss between their outlet and the smart meter so they have just to overcharge the lines to charge you more money.

then they can see if you are at home, how many people.

not to say that they inject dirty electricity creating emf that fuck with your homeostasys making you fatigued and more likely to get ill.

Worse thing about smart meters??

they are really all about control, add to that, they are evil in their play for starting fires

so bump on opt out of smart meter topic...

Here's my quick story...
They put in a smart meter a couple months ago. my lights flickered often after the smart meter install. I called and asked them to check it out (Duke E, NC btw).

They came and took out the newer Smart Meter and put in an OLDer model meter. And the flickering stopped.

A month or so goes by.

the electric company comes today to put the new "smart meter" in...

We tell them that we want to opt out and that we are willing to pay the fees.
He says we'll have to call and request an opt-out meter...

He says we need an Opt-Out meter... because the old one we have now only sends the signal to the street driving truck still.

the opt-out meter somehow is 'smarter' than the old meter, but not as smart as the smart meter... see where i'm going?

so, my assumption is there is a newer "opt-out-but not so smart meter" ???

Anyone here have info on this idea?
Should I opt-out of the opt-out meter deal? LOL... Seriously... I am not sure if it is worth opting out of the "smart meter" if their
'opt-out meter' does the same thing???

Dew or not a Dew

They installed a new smart meter on my home without an advance warning or telling me they were doing it!! I was so angry about it!

I googled Ameren UE to see how I can get a regular meter back on my house. They charge $100 to have it installed and $40 a month to read the damned thing!! It makes me so angry because I had planned on stopping it before it happened!
