this left right crap is so tiresome, and it's obvious it's like some trained reflex at this point because people can't just speak from a viewpoint without the other person fabricating an entire worldview and backstory of assumptions about them.

Why that is, I don't know for sure.
However, you may be like various people who tend to treat the topic of their left-leaning biases - at least in this forum versus some place in Hollywood/San Francisco/NYC - as a political version of an adult admitting he gets aroused when dealing with young children.
People just need to be honest about themselves and others.
