Everyday Astronaut provided the high speed camera I used to film it at 120 fps for some awesome slo-mo footage of the booster's destruction. You can also see the Dragon capsule getting the hell out of there before the sideways booster comes into view. The test was a success and will lead to a human crew on the next Crew Dragon flight. Just, as all-ways, amazing. Keep going! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72502927 No, not yet. I'm having too much fun watching you make an ass out of yourself by falsely accusing me of stealing Tim Dodd's video. I love watching everyday astronauts videos. I think it is so cool that you are collaborating with him. Keep up the good work! |

Its says footage captured and provided by by Tim Dodd....are you taking credit ? There is a lot of Poaching of other peoples videos and claimed as their own. Yes, I'm taking credit for adapting my tracking software to the new model of LX200 telescope he and his team used to track the rocket. I worked closely with him on this launch. By all means, inform him I posted his footage if you like, he's already aware of it. He approached me about my software for this launch and agreed to let me use his footage. why call it his footage? Because his team filmed it. |

What you did see exiting the fire ball was the second stage. The camera did a very good job when you consider the cloud cover, of tracking the second stage down to almost ground level. The question is, why didn't range safety blow the charges on the stage and will SpaceX get fined for fuel contamination of water front? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76725771 None the less, that was interesting to watch. They actually planned it that way. Range safety was deliberately shut off when the engines shut down. They did an environmental impact analysis before the launch. |

The camera I borrowed from everyday astronaut was capable of high speed but the mini HDMI cable I use to hook up to a monitor and steer wasn't compatible with this camera. It only takes a micro HDMI plug and I didn't have a cable for it. I'll fix that next time. I'm glad it came out as well as it did without me being able to see what the telescope was recording. |

It would be a lot more profitable, and he could invest that extra cash in making his Teslas blow up less while his rockets blow up more. Or hiring some better designers to make an electric truck that doesn't look a a DeLorean with down syndrome. Shit I'd buy an electric truck if it fucking looked anything at all like a truck. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73148267 United States 01/22/2020 10:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The emergency escape was a great leap forward in crew safety when the Soviets invented and perfected it 55 years ago for their Soyuz rocket. In this day and age is it really necessary to blow up an entire rocket to test a small propulsion unit and some exploding bolts or what am I missing here? On the other hand it is the great Elon so as a taxpaying plebeian I suppose I have no right to complain. |

User ID: 78224333 United States 01/23/2020 01:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No. It exploded when it turned sideways into a supersonic stream of air and was ripped apart by aerodynamic loads in a direction the rocket was not designed to withstand. how cum other rockets don't esplode then? Quoting: confusedBecause they usually don't shut off their engines at max-q, lose control authority, and turn sideways into the flow of air right when aerodynamic forces are at their maximum. you say now that they can esplode it they want to put ppl in it?!?!? nice suicide ride for some ppl i guess. crazy. Quoting: confusedThe test deliberately destroyed the rocket. I suggest you look up what the word deliberate means and stop making an idiot of yourself. The test proved the capsule can get away from an ailing rocket even at max q, the worst moment in the launch when the vehicle is experiencing maximum aerodynamic pressure (and the capsule then experiences even more under the thrust of its escape system). You can see the capsule getting away well ahead of the rocket in my video. Thanks for this. Watching the crew capsule come down, it looked like it crashed. Did I miss something there? |

Is the servo/software capable of true variable speed? Listening to the servo during tracking it sounded like it was stepping between a higher speed and lower speed. |
