If this virus gets totally out of control in the West, no amount of prepping is going to help people who won't be able to work and therefore not pay their rent or mortgage payments.

China actually had laws that people will get paid during the quarantine.

I think it's foolish in the extreme to not have a safety net of savings for whatever reason.

Clay County monitoring 3 with medium risk of exposure to coronovirus

LIBERTY, Mo. —

The Clay County Health Department said Monday that it is monitoring three people, described as having a medium risk of exposure to the coronavirus.

"Currently, we have three people who are being monitored. They're under home quarantine for 14 days. What that monitoring process involves is checking your temperatures twice a day. We're monitoring for signs of illness, which in this case could be fever, trouble breathing, respiratory distress," said Clay County Health Director Gary Zaborac,

Good 4 U going to India. It was the trip of a lifetime for me - I LOVED it there. It surprised me how much. The only issue is food- I brought RAW trail mix - and was the only westerner who did not get sick. I lost weight - yeah - but felt wonderful. Canadians being told to prepare for a possible novel coronavirus pandemic

As novel coronavirus outbreaks spread across a growing list of countries, Canadians are being warned to prepare for a possible pandemic.

In a shift from previous messages, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Theresa Tam acknowledged Monday that Canada may no longer be able to contain and limit the virus if it continues to spread around the world. She said governments, businesses and individuals should prepare for an outbreak or pandemic.

“We are coming to similar conclusions,” agreed Dr. Vera Etches, the City of Ottawa’s top health officer, on Monday. “It looks like it is going to be more and more difficult to contain this virus and it may well evolve into a pandemic. That would change the efforts to contain every last case and contact.”

Etches said people can take steps now, at home and at work, to prepare.

Some of those steps include stocking up on needed prescriptions ahead of time so there is no need to do so during a possible pandemic. She also recommended people stock up on non-perishable food.

“Imagine if someone was ill for a week. What would you need?”

She said there are ongoing discussions about setting up an assessment centre outside of hospitals to reduce pressure on the health system.

“The global risk situation is evolving,” said Tam, noting that the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, has grown beyond its epicentre in China to include rapid community spreading in several countries. “The window for containment is closing. These signs are worrisome.”


We are being warned!

I call bullshit. My granddaughter ended up last week in emergency after a month of flu-like symptoms because she was having trouble breathing. The staff did nothing to isolate her from other patients, took a chest xray and left her sitting around coughing for 5 hours. None of the staff were wearing masks or gloves, and they didn't give her a mask even though she asked for one. There were no special protocols just in case. Canada hasn't handled this at all. Justin wouldn't want to get Winnie Pooh mad at us, he's already pissed about the arrest of the heir to Huawei. Canada's strategy is to do nothing, cuz we wouldn't want to look racist by shutting down direct flights from Asia and hope it blows over. The opportunity to stop it from spreading here was over a couple of weeks ago.

Excellent. Most people won't listen. But, they have been warned.

There are 13,373 people waiting for the test results, and there is a possibility that the number of confirmed patients will increase further....

The second San Diego patient who tested positive for novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, has been released.

UC San Diego Health made the announcement Monday and said the hospital is no longer caring for anyone with confirmed or possible cases of the virus.

The Alitalia plane landed in Fiumicino with the 40 Italian tourists on board departing from Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean. The group, made up of people from Lombardy and Veneto, was part of the 212 passengers who arrived yesterday morning in the capital of the archipelago.But, while 172 people were disembarked and were able to start their holiday, 40, from the affected Italian areas by the Coronavirus, they were placed before a crossroads: a period of quarantine or the return to Italy.

You still plenty of time to assess the situation.

But, consider that once there, you might not be allowed back in the US.

A cabin crew worker from Korean Air tested positive for coronavirus the airline said Tuesday and details about what routes the employee flew were not immediately known, according to a report.
