Last Edited by Only Me on 01/22/2020 01:23 PM Goodbye, halcyon days... There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened. |

Quoting: Deplorable Revbo™ This is going to cause absolute panic in Wuhan, as unprecedented as this is. People there are going to read this as they are trapped, and they're right. The communist government will, predictably, crack down on anyone trying to flee the city and I bet we'll see a curfew implemented soon. People used to laugh at me for being prepared to weather something like this. Just because something hasn't happened in 30 years, doesn't mean something can't happen. People have bills to pay, kids to feed, etc. The only way this will work is if China declares abank holiday, all bills are suspended, and can provide food and necessities for all 11M people. Otherwise, people will still be going places and doing things, plus the Black Market will smuggle items in and people out, and the quarantine will be useless. At best, it slows things way down, and gives the rest of the world time to prepare. I've still got all my N95s, plastic sheeting, bleach, and other preps from ebola. I just don't tell anyone except all you crazy people around here. The neighbors laugh at you, until they need your stuff. Then, you have to start killing people, and I don't need that kind of trouble in the middle of another disaster. Ebola? Child. lol. I have my stuff from H5N1 almost 20 years ago. But, today is a good day to inventory and see where I lack. I'm thinking the Wuhan quarantine caught WHO off guard, and that's why the presser is late. WHO is scrambling to not look like idiots, is my guess. I was a bulletproof college kid back then. Used to laugh at all the Y2K preppers the outdoor store I worked at sold kits to. Look at me now. The ban, which was issued by the outbreak command authority in Wuhan, the epicentre of the virus, said that from 10am on Thursday, urban buses, subways, ferries and long-distance passenger transport would be suspended in the city. Flights and trains departing from Wuhan will also be temporarily suspended. The notice did not say when the services would resume. The notice did not mention private cars but said “citizens should not leave the city unless there are special conditions”. I'm curious as to how this will be enforced. The level of response to someone trying to leave the city will be very telling. Will the military attempt to cordon off the city?
