A man in China got sick on January 5. He was hospitalized on January 10. The Authorities in China announced his illness on January 21. So there is definitely a lag in reporting.

Just because it's a new virus doesn't mean it doesn't behave like other viruses or respond in similar ways to various interventions. Many of the treatments mentioned in these threads work well with colds and flus. They would certainly be good to have on hand for dealing with another virus.

Why would you want to discourage sharing of information that may help people prevent or treat this disease? I mean, we could try throwing cotton balls or motor oil at it because, like the other suggestions, they haven't been tested against this particular virus, but I think, given a regular flu responds well to Vitamin C, garlic, Vitamin D, and elderberry, it would probably be a good idea to try those things first.

It is like he stated...Garlic and Vit. C are just natural foodstuffs that will build up your defenses and strengthen your immune system. Just as hot soup, some tout chicken soup can help your body during colds and illness.

I would bet a trial between fast food eaters and home-cooked soup and fresh food eaters would prove the value of diet control and supplemental herbs and spices.

I actually have a pot of chicken soup on the stove this very minute. Lots of onions, carrots, celery, and a spoon of crushed garlic among other things. It is early here but I get up very early. The rest of the house wakes up to that smell of the simmering soup, the extra moisture in the air and they feel great because of it. Later they will have the soup...but a scoop of just the broth before breakfast is a life enhancer for good health and a positive mood.
