Today I experienced what I believe is a legit case of the Mandela Effect. I'm 40 years old and today I learned that the State of Texas was apart of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. I grew up in Texas, I took Texas History in 7th grade, I had a father who was a civil war buff and could tell you anything about anything regarding the civil war. Never, EVER in my life have I ever heard or read anywhere that Texas was a part of the Confederate States of America. In Texas History I was taught that Texas was a neutral state during the civil war and that we never picked a side officially although many Texans did elect to fight on the side of the Confederate States. I remember without a shadow of a doubt my history teacher telling me this, I remember my father telling me this, I remember reading this growing up in text books and out of my own curiosity. Texas NEVER joined the Confederate States. However tonight I learned that apparently they did, not only that but apparently no shit civil war battles took place not just in Texas but New Mexico as well. My mind is spinning, I could swear on my life this never happened. I can recall these memories just as vividly as I can my lunch today, reading how Texas specifically decided to remain neutral during the Civil War. I remember looking at maps outlining the Confederate States of America and it always stopped at Louisiana, but now apparently it includes Texas and parts of southern New Mexico. I'm honestly questioning my sanity at this point. I'm a very well educated individual, academics has always been my gift yet this MASSIVE hole in history is hitting me like an 18 wheeler T-Boning a fucking Yugo. This absolutely does not make any sense to me. I'm reaching out trying to see if there is anyone else out there who remembers what I remember. That Texas remained neutral, that they did not give up their independence to fight for the Confederacy, that there were in fact no battles fought in Texas during the Civil War. I fucking pray there is at least one other person out there that remembers this the way I do because honestly I'm wondering if I'm going off my rocker or if maybe, just maybe this is a legit example of the Mandela Effect. Thank you for reading! God Bless. |

Quoting: Psychonaut SN7 I read that for myself tonight, what I'm telling you is that this did not occur according to what I was taught and what I have known for my entire life. This is new, this is different, this isn't how things went down in everything I have ever read or known before tonight. According to everything I have ever known this is wrong, this is like being told that instead of Obama being our last President it was Joe Pesci. It's a fucking mind blow. I'm looking for someone who remembers what I do. |
