Anonymous Coward User ID: 78371300 United States 01/24/2020 03:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | as soon as the presenter of the gun saw him point it at the cameraman he should slapped it right out of his damn hands. Quoting: Coastie Patriot I would say that person is as complicit in this, unless it was to fast to stop!11 Knowing the reporter was with VICE shoulda been a huge clue!!! It's obvious the reporter was relying completely on the gun owner to have handed him the Thompson in an unloaded state, and he was willing to bet his camera mans life on it. WOWZA. The fact is he didn't have any idea how to even cycle the gun , remove the magazine , or clear the chamber. He should not have been holding it unless he did. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78371300 United States 01/24/2020 03:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know it is not particularly good on a center fire action to be dry fired, but IMO a good idea before handing the gun over to an inexperienced noob to handle is to point the weapon at the ground and pull the trigger after removing the magazine and clearing, which is one of my own techniques. You can then put the empty magazine back in it and be fairly certain he wont shoot someone or himself, don't even trust your eyes because sometimes rounds get by people. I have heard so many stories of guns going off while being cleaned or handled where the persons doing the holding swear up and down they "cleared" the weapon. |

Nobody died but things went boom. This you Cletus???? lol, not me but yes that's almost exactly what happened. Mine was at Ft. Benning, GA. The blast wall already had a crack in it & when the grenade went off bits of concrete went flying everywhere. The drill sgt saved dude's life. I don't even remember the guy's name. All I remember about him is he was the most ignorant SOB ever let in & after getting "scuffed" a few dozen times because of him, he got a late night "soap party" if you catch my drift. |

I had dropped the magazine out of it, and, as we were talking, all of a sudden, BANG! I blew a hole right through the computer monitor! She screamed, "What was that!" I said, "I just shot the computer. There was something on there that pissed me off!" ROUND IN THE CHAMBER. If I had had the pistol turned 180 degrees, I wouldn't be typing this. ...and I know better, but I ALSO "KNEW" the gun was safe. YOU CANNOT BE TOO CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING FIREARMS the gun wasnt safe if you had a round in the chamber, it was in a safe direction, that is all!!! DOH!!!! A safety is a mechanical safety too, mechanics can fail, this is why you make sure the chamber is empty and still always always always point in a safe direction |
