NEWS: The Great Lakes naval station in Illinois is closed after the vehicle passes through the door and staff is told to “run, hide, fight”

The station, located in a suburb of northern Chicago, shared a brief message on their Facebook telling people to “hide” or “fight.”

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office shared in a Facebook post that ‘there is no known threat outside the base’

The Federal Health Center Captain James A. Lovell is also closed, according to the medical center’s Facebook.

Sgt. Christopher Covelli with the Lake County Sheriff's office said a car crashed in front of a gate at the facility and authorities were searching for a person inside the base.

A public information officer for the base, however, said a driver went through an area where credentials are required but did not show credentials to the guard and continued into the naval base.

A post from the base just before 9 a.m. Friday said the facility remained on lockdown as authorities "reacted to a minor situation involving an unauthorized entry."

Every friday at 10 am there is a graduation ceremony.

Some relatives visiting from out of state, probably wasn’t aware of base protocol and fucked up while trying to enter base.
