From your article.

The first patient to die from the new coronavirus had continuous exposure to the market before he was admitted to hospital with a seven-day history of fever, cough and breathing difficulties, according to their report.

Five days after the onset of symptoms, his wife, a 53-year-old woman with no known history of exposure to the market, also presented with pneumonia and was hospitalised in the isolation ward, they said.

The absence of a link to the seafood market is one of the indicators for human-to-human transmission of the virus and the researchers identified another 13 patients who also had no direct exposure to the market.

Yea. Thanks Nutmeg for the clarification. I read the article hastily, hence incorrectly comprehended its intent, as did many others. You so smart

"No link with seafood market in first case of China coronavirus, Chinese scientists revealed.

Researchers into initial cases find first person with symptoms had no contact with market where disease is believed to have originated."

In my opinion, this further emboldens the case of this being a bioweapon or an accidental release from the nearby BSL-4 lab, or both.

Kinda don't believe this? There has been such an outcry about the market and Chinese eating habits and cultural norms. Maybe some soft push back to save face?

What this does point to is human to human transmission for sure.

I do not think anyone can say what animal or where this started, but to say definitely not the wet market? Seems a huge assumption..

But not so unusual for a 1x4 transmission rate

I believe an accident is highly unlikely. BSL-4 is incredibly secure. Feels almost more possible for deliberate than accident, even then it would take at least two people on the same level to pull it off.

It's definitely a bio-weapon. But did China release it by accident or did an enemy sabotage the bio-weapons lab?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76870401

And if it were an act of sabotage...You would have to
be willing to "off" yourself (as the original vector)
as well as China. You would ALSO have to have such an
all-consumming HATRED of CHINA to sabotage a Level 4
bio-lab as your motivation.

So...who in the world HATES China the most?

(I'm staying out of this vote!)

you would also have to genetically engineer it to target ONLY ASIANS. listen close to various country accounts of "new cases". its always an ASIAN from China. doesnt seem to be spreading outside the genotype- but appears as internationally spreading due to Asians intl travel.
