So, if you were to "escape" the U.S., what country would you go to? | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 78289498 United States 01/25/2020 07:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just curious. Quoting: Builder of the Adytum Right now, I just want to escape California. Please explain your choice. How would you know it wouldn't be a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire"? Probably as an American the easiest would be to escape to one of those bahama territories that are part of USA, or Hawaii - otherwise you'd have to go through the whole immigration process or risk being an illegal alien and deported Where there is a will there is a way. Also, where there is money. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78068745 I'm not a socialist or commie or progressive, so no problem. But again that is not a foreign country. It would not be my first choice for another state, but I have nothing against it. I was really looking at other countries though. I did live outside the US for five years in South Korea and returned in 2012. It was a nice country and a positive experience. Clean, relatively crime-free, very conservative culture in many ways for those interested. I will be following your thread because I am interested in the information as well. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 78289498 United States 01/25/2020 07:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Seriously, everyone talking about leaving the US to go to let's say South America, are in for a FUCKING rude awakening when things go sideways. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78068745 You are free to do as you please, but you will be a target in your non native land. I would recommend finding the most free state in the US instead and then make sure you don't change it into the shit hole you just left. You're welcome, and Shabbat Shalom... I am not recommending leaving. Just wanted to know where people would go if they did and why. |

In the same way that in a collapse, lots and lots of immigrant looking folk will get murdered for no reason in USA, right? You know it's true! |

Anyone thinking about going anywhere where the people don't look like you... God have mercy on your soul... Read the horror stories of Costa Rica (just one example I hear ALL THE TIME) and tell me if you think that's the kind of place you'd want to be if their government ever collapsed or there were massive global interruptions. Quoting: Builder of the Adytum Right now, I just want to escape California. Please explain your choice. How would you know it wouldn't be a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire"? Already did it. I went to Colombia, best decision I ever made. Here are 10 reasons but I could probably list 50. 1. Libertarian society. Do whatever you want. You can buy any med you want over the counter (antibiotics, narcotics, anything). 2. There are no laws. Pass over the double yellow line, no cop hiding in the bushes to pull you over. No cops in general, really. If you do find yourself talking to one, they'll try to diffuse and resolve, not treat you like a mass of meat. 3 It's CHEAP. You can easily live on $1000 per month. Some people live on half that and live just fine. 4. Land is plentiful and cheap. Go to Antioquia, you can buy acres of land in the mountains for nothing. 5. Temperature is the same all-year round. Up in the mountains of Antioquia, that means high of 78 and low of 60. Aside from the nice climate, that means fruits and vegetables grow all year round. It's always growing season! 6. It's way off the map. If there's a global war, economic breakdown, etc - you are far away from ground zero. No one cares about South America. 7. It's safe. But people who are mind controlled and watch TV (Narcos, for example) don't think it is, so it keeps the idiots away 8. If you're male and single, the most beautiful women on earth and they love American men 9. No blackouts, great infrastructure. I have fiberoptic internet in my mountain home. Because most energy is the result of hydroelectric power (lots and lots of rivers and waterfalls), you won't lose power, ever... 10. It's close to the US. If you decide to go back, even for a weekend, it's a 3 hour flight and about $300 via VivaColombia airlines |

It's supposed to be safe from war, etc. Seems like a poor choice though. "Doom! Doom! Doom! Anonymous Coward User ID: 78067290 Belgium 01/25/2020 08:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Costa Rica is very peaceful and beautiful. No army. I was there exactly 20 years ago. Things have changed though. It has become expensive. Nicaragua might be a good choice, although there were political tensions lately, but it's cheap. Russia is a good choice. So is Iceland. Or remote islands such as... Fibi. To be perfectly honest, there aren't that many good places to go when TSHTF. Personally, I would like to leave this shithole. I can't stand the EU-dictatorship. Soon they will demand our fingerprints, which I will refuse, so I need to leave before I don't have a choice (would not allow it either way). |
