Really have been told by a family member that behind the scenes preparations are being made for major cities to be place on lockdown as coronavirus spreads. True severity and spreadability factors are not being given in order to keep the public from panicking.

You aren't understanding. If there is mass panic and hospitals turn away dying kids and others, society will not continue to function as you see now. Our bodies have no immunity to this virus at all. Survival for many will depend on hospital care with fluids administered via IV and constant monitoring.
