and it got my thinking about how many times a reset is necessary for population control.

For example, if you calculate population growth at a modest 1.2 percent which factors in wars, pandemics, famines etc. Then start of with a population of 2 in the year 175 ac.

By the year 696 there will be 1000 people. By the year 1275 there will be almost 1 million and by 2020 there will be around 7.2 billion. Not even two thousand years of growth. Maybe mass extinctions happen more than we think?

I know modern tech and agriculture plays a part but that doesn't seem to stop the third world from reproducing at anywhere from 3 - 10%.
