Just 2 days ..not good

Last I heard there is 8 Chinese patients in the hospitals. The locals are starting to get concerned and masks are sold out, plus they are starting to make runs on food at Big C.

But now they are having fun sharing Facebook videos of Chinese dudes eating disgusting stuff

Tourism is a huge part of the economy here so the gubmint is doing nothing as usual.

I think things will get crazy when the Thais that were infected by the Chinese tourists start getting sick. Maybe a week or so?

Kind of amazing that no native Thai have it yet then. That's good! Like you said, a week may tell us a lot more. Hopefully it all dies out in the mean time, but the number seem to be telling otherwise.

With barely over a hundred dead, it's insane to worry about it.

What other advice should the CDC be giving?

Masks are effective to stop the spread, but marginal compared to keeping distance and washing hands.

They are having a tough time substantiating what China is telling the world, especially if it can be transmitted h2h, or its pre-symptomatic latency.

Drastic times require NEW IDEAS. Pick a nice island with nice hotels, evacuate island of all the well people and make them comfy on mainland. Put your sick people (that will include nurses, doctors, and medical supplies) on that island. AirDrop all the supplies. Treat them nice, give them luxury. Patients need the ultraviolet light of natural sunshine to heal NOT A HOSPITAL.

For God’s sake quit putting them in hospitals and foaming the doors shut and wasting resources, exposing healthy care workers! This would be CHEAPER AND MORE HUMANE THAN A HOSPITAL. The warm sunny weather would do them good.

We need a radical change in thinking. Save the hospitals for the normal stuff, do not overwhelm them.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE, I AM FOR REAL, THIS WILL WORK. Then you don’t have to quarantine any more cities and destroy economies.

This is not a “draconian measure” suggested by experts that only think traditionally. This is humane....sunshine, fresh air, and total quarrentine.

I guess I expected more tips on health and what have you. Then again, I guess that is not their remit.

The French press was reporting that the PTB in HK were saying there were 44,000 a couple of days ago.

Quarantined millions in China and shut down the stock market all over 100 or so deaths from the virus. None of that makes any sense, they are very obviously lying about the numbers.

I'm sure they have already disabled their bank accounts and texted them to return home and remain in place.

Yeah, you have to wonder why these viruses really thrive in winter months... lack of sunlight exposure, UV light. Make a point of going out in the middle of the day if you can.

At any time there would be 100.000s having normal flu like symptoms. These are not small cities. Many milions of people.

Anyone with a cough or drizzle will now think they have been marked for death.

And Chinese people dont have a family doctor system so they always go to the hospital directly for anything from a grown in toenail to braincancer.

Most people dont understand numbers and how China works.

This virus is not spreading like wildfire, if it were then there would be pandamonium of 100.000s rushing to hospitals.

We just dont see that happening. there is no exponential infection as far as i can see.

When control measures kick in then my guess is this will have a limited effect. Only the old and weak dying. but they could have died of other things also in the near future if this was not around. People forget that.
