Trump says he is considering "enforceable quarantine" for New York, parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

"I don’t know how that could be legally enforceable,” New York Gov. Cuomo said, adding, “I don’t even like the sound of it.”

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Saturday that he was considering an "enforceable quarantine" in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area due to the coronavirus outbreak, saying the decision could come as soon as later in the day.

“Some people would like to see New York quarantined because its a hot spot. New York, New Jersey, maybe one or two other places. Certain parts of Connecticut quarantined,” Trump said as he left the White House en route of Norfolk, Va. to see off the USNS Comfort, a Navy hospital ship that is headed to New York to provide extra hospital space to help fight the outbreak.

"I am thinking about that right now. We might not have to do it but there’s a possibility that sometime today we’ll do a quarantine, short term, two weeks, on New York. Probably New Jersey, certain parts of Connecticut," Trump continued.

BREAKING - Trump at the USNS Comfort sent off event:

"Announcement of the quarantine of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut to contain #COVID19 in these areas coming soon. Only truck drivers will be allowed to pass state borders."

This would be an unprecedented step in the US!

This is what happens in my little corner in NW Italy:
The lockdown will be extended for another 2 weeks.
There is no shortage of food but you must wait at least two hours before it is your turn in the supermarket queue
Some people in southern Italy no longer have money to buy food in stores, they don't want to pay.
Some people ask to remove the lockdown to avoid the failure of their business
Yesterday the first death in my village, other cases in the neighboring villages Occasionally the sirens break the unreal silence
I'm lucky because I have a vegetable garden near my home, who owns a vegetable garden over 200 m from their home (650 ft) cannot go there, but some people go there anyway, it is only allowed to farmers.

I've received some information from inside about conditions at FCI Oakdale (a federal prison here in my home state of Louisiana). I'm very disturbed by what I heard. It sounds like #COVID19 and other illnesses may have spread through most of the facility, including to the staff.

Also he drops several tidbits throughout the interview that make you think about a few things from different angles. The 8 minute mark is quite interesting if you think the release of the virus was an accident.

My wife just talked with her friends in Moscow. They are on their third day of nationwide quarantine lockdown.

Edit: Not really a quarantine.

The FIRST peak will be around June. Could be late May or early July, depends on many factors.


The second peak...well, it will probably not matter, since I hardly doubt we will get out in one piece (as a society) by May.


I still stand on my SHTF scenario to unfold by the end of April.

Another thing the author wanted to convey was how one man -sometimes without intention- can make a massive positive difference in the lives of many.

Here's a bit of trivia surrounding that film: the screenplay departed radically from the original book; in it, the rebuilt society was dominated by women who were led by a pervasive AI intelligence. I liked Costner's simpler version much better.

The incredible set of "Bridge City" was actually built on a working dam; Boundary Dam, located in Metaline Falls, WA, furnishes the power for over 1/2 of the city of Seattle... where America's first outbreak of CoVid-19 occurred. During construction, the crew worked 350' above the active spillway while wearing safety harnesses.

The movie was trashed by critics still fuming over Costner's reaction to their reviews of his earlier WATERWORLD. When they panned it, he literally told them all to go straight to Hell and they got their revenge on THE POSTMAN. The USPS -officially anyway- trashed the film for just one scene where Costner's character opens/burns mail [while completely ignoring the overriding concept of how important their own workers -and their deliveries- are to the everyday fabric of life]. But, it also didn't help that Costner refused to bow to the long list of script revisions the agency demanded.

As a former [now retired] USPS Supervisor, for many years I worked at a teaching station where new carriers were taught [never "trained"... you train animals, you teach human beings] in our Carrier Academy. One thing I drilled into them was the vital, unspoken role they play in everyday society. Consider this: letter carriers are frequently the only federal employees many in the general public ever see. And that's why the post office stubbornly delivers even under the most adverse conditions -because when they don't it's a visible, if subtle sign of governmental failure. I also told them to watch that film if they really wanted to know how important their contributions were to every one of their customers, their community and their nation. Some of my students actually listened to me!

During this crisis I've been telling people that if the USPS begins curtailing deliveries to only a couple of days per week, you'll know society is nearing its collapse.
