So im thinking long term after the tap is shut off and all you have is the river or pond. I know about the charcoal and sand hack. Im looking to buy a large capacity mobile water purification system.
P.S. money is not a hindrance.

Thanks GLP

I have two Berkey Purifiers at home. They remove greater than 99.999% of viruses, pharmaceuticals, fluoride, basically everything. Pond water is no problem.

For hiking, biking and canoe camping I have two different MSR filters and a Steripen Classic UV Purifier. The MSR filters I have are the Miniworks EX hand pump filter, and the MSR Autoflow gravity filter.

Those MSR filters will remove ALL bacteria and parasites, but they do not remove viruses. The Steripen Classis I use is a AA battery Ultralight Sterilizer that kills all Bacteria and Viruses dead. If I have the Steripen with me I use it after the water has been filtered. It only takes 60 seconds per liter, and one set of Eneloop NiMh Rechargable AA will get 50+ liters.

Those MSR filters have made me plenty of safe drinking water out on the Wisconsin River, and that is far from clean water. I do not always have the Steripen with me, and I have never become sick with or without it. Boiling is another option, and I also carry some tablets as another backup option.

PANDEMICS DO NOT OCCUR IN NATURE
Western Medicine is based on Pasteur’s Germ Theory.
Pasteur later admitted:
"Germ Theory does not explain disease."
ie disease is not from viruses.
