Survival for teotwawki scenario. experienced welcomed. I have two Berkey Purifiers at home. They remove greater than 99.999% of viruses, pharmaceuticals, fluoride, basically everything. Pond water is no problem. For hiking, biking and canoe camping I have two different MSR filters and a Steripen Classic UV Purifier. The MSR filters I have are the Miniworks EX hand pump filter, and the MSR Autoflow gravity filter. Those MSR filters will remove ALL bacteria and parasites, but they do not remove viruses. The Steripen Classis I use is a AA battery Ultralight Sterilizer that kills all Bacteria and Viruses dead. If I have the Steripen with me I use it after the water has been filtered. It only takes 60 seconds per liter, and one set of Eneloop NiMh Rechargable AA will get 50+ liters. Those MSR filters have made me plenty of safe drinking water out on the Wisconsin River, and that is far from clean water. I do not always have the Steripen with me, and I have never become sick with or without it. Boiling is another option, and I also carry some tablets as another backup option. Stay Safe MAGA |
