Nola.com reports that Mike Zieglar, Executive Director of Racing for CDI (Churchill Downs home of the Kentucky Derby) warned tge commission on Monday that without the proposed reforms the sport was unlikely to survive.

"Our entire industry is knee deep in the midst of an existential crises," he said, according to the report. "We are being attacked, and arguably deservedly, on many fronts, and we simply cannot sit back, do nothing and expect this to go away."

"It will kill us. The court of public opininion has convicted us, and we must make significant changes to their minds. They're keeping score now."

Ban horse racing. Show pro BMX racing on TV.

All the animal lovers thinking themselves doing a good thing, wonder if you you will bat an ey when all these race horses and their progeny end up euthanised or turned into glue the moment something like horse racing is banned. The horses certainly won't be kept.
