User ID: 74619032 United States 01/30/2020 10:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in the hospital for a pulmonary embolism I had Tuesday morning. I'm going to survive that, but they want to keep me here a few more days and I want to get home before the coronavirus patients start showing up. Quoting: Factual Error Am I screwed? Have you insisted to them that you want to go home? I insisted on going home after having a massive heart attack from a 100% occluded main artery, ten hours after the stent was put in, 12 after the attack, directly from the ICU....and after a blistering lecture from the ICU doc about stopping smoking - 20 minutes of that - I was released. I was let go after a bowel resection after two days, was supposed to be there five, but insisted I wanted to go home. I told them I live alone and have a cat that needs caring for....and plus that I just hate being in a hospital. You have even more reason than I've ever had for wanting to get out of there. As long as you DO ACTUALLY feel well enough to take care of yourself, then I'd start gently insisting that you'd now like to go home....just for the better rest is a good enough reason in my book. My heart to yours you get home sooner rather than later.... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. May God grant you peace and a quick recovery. I was just going to post that. Sad, but true....but I was going to add this-- Everyone thinking this way needs to quit thinking this way. There's much better things to do with our abilities to comprehend a dicey situation beyond just throwing hands up in the air and saying, "We're screwed." Make peace within yourself quickly comes to my mind. And laugh....we can't stop laughing. I'll probably die laughing....but that will most likely be at the absurdity that was life on the Big Bluesy Marble..... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. Actually, and this coming from the husband of a nurse who worked as a paramedic in two Level-One trauma centers, you're safer there. Yes, nosocomial infections are always a risk---shit happens. But, they'll have any suspected corona cases wrapped up tighter than a drum. If that helps put your mind at ease, and I hope it does. |
