Have You Ever met someone who brings you bad luck somehow? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76269387 United States 02/02/2020 03:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ha! Yeah! I have in fact had someone with habitual bad luck, steal my neutral luck, and leave me with their bad luck. Now their life is stable and mine is one crazy unpredictable problem after another. We traded luck status. This happens to me when I make a connection with someone new. |

I just thought it was me, but now I wonder if people are actually bad luck for others? I can actually think of a few I have known and one more recent, I booted to the curb rather fast as I considered they may be bad luck? Quoting: rewind I did not start having extremely good luck like a windfall or anything, but definitely my days are brighter and less dreary, and more hopeful now that I have cut the rope I felt strangled with. Why is that I wonder? I think people really do leach onto others and you can feel it, no matter the sweet talk, gifts, and supposed fun, it is dreary and weighs on your soul with they say one thing but have other intent or purpose, which is not o kindly in the end if you can't give them or won't give them what they seek? Maybe this life is just a mind control experiment with every one of our thoughts and actions being manipulated until their desired effect is achieved. The key is to break the cycles. Dig deep. Luck has nothing to do with it. |

How did these people differentiate from others? What they tell you, how they live, how they look? Sounds more placebo. In the old days cunning individuals would sell items to those in need for a steep price. Say an iron ring. There was nothing special about it. But the purveyor told them it had special properties and could enhance things, say strength, luck, etc. The buyer pays good money for it. And that gives it its value. They make different choices wearing it. And sometimes, often even, end up getting every penny's worth. |

There's no such thing as 'good' "Lucy" true.. if it was not for bad luck.. well, you know the rest! :) The word "luck" is derived from the name of the enemy; "Lucifer". Dang, this is the first time I have used that word since I learned it, 30 years ago. Take it to heart, K! Thanks. luck comes from Lucifer ... I'm afraid that's bollocks mate ... Germanic word, one would expect the Roman languages have similar words if the Lucifer (Latin) was the origin, but no ... From Middle English luk, lukke, related to Old Frisian luk (“luck”), West Frisian gelok (“luck”), Saterland Frisian Gluk (“luck”), Dutch geluk (“luck, happiness”), Low German luk (“luck”), German Glück (“luck, good fortune, happiness”), Danish lykke (“luck”), Swedish lycka (“luck”), Icelandic lukka (“luck”). Loaned into English in the 15th century (probably as a gambling term) from Middle Dutch luc, a shortened form of gheluc (“good fortune”), whence Modern Dutch geluk. Middle Dutch luc, gheluc is paralleled by Middle High German lücke, gelücke (modern German Glück). The word occurs only from the 12th century, apparently first in Rhine Frankish. Perhaps from a Frankish *galukki. The word enters standard Middle High German during the 13th century, and spreads to English and Scandinavian in the Late Middle Ages. Its origin seems to have been regional or dialectal, and there were competing German words such as gevelle or schick, or the Latinate fortūne. Its etymology is unknown, although there are numerous proposals as to its derivations from a number of roots. |
