Book Has Cure For Wuhan Virus

Greetings from the twlight zone. Even during my doom break, the shit follows me.

I've been reading a series of books called the Long Winter Trilogy. In the last book, the hero is shown an alternative reality where (wait for it) there is an Ebola/SARS like virus that starts in Asia but is as, if not more infectious than the flu and kills millions of people through it's pneumonia. And the incubation period is 7 to 10 days during which the victim spreads the virus. And the governments didn't ban travel soon enough.

A company invents a cure with a retrovirus that slows the shortening of telomeres and slows the metabolism which also turned out to stop tumor growth and stop aging. Sadly, the cure caused a wasting away effect that killed as many people.

At any rate, the Long Winter trilogy has the answer. Send an automated ship full of people to another star to start over 'cause we're toast here on Earth. They use the metabolism slowing thing as suspended animation to survive the trip.

Oh, and one more thing. The supply chain has collapsed so they have to use 3d printers to make parts for robots, cars, etc..
