Ask me a question. It does happen but not as much as people think. There is a initiative called P.R.E.A. Prison rape elimination act. They are really trying to stop prison rape. These new prisons have cameras that cover every square inch of the place. and who is most likely to be a victim or bitch in prison? |

Ask me a question. Another thread pined showing high school life from 1989...about the time you started your work at the prison. Recalling the changes from then to now how have the inmates themselves changed in the past 30 plus years? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74859256 How did it change you? Yes the newer inmates within the last 10-15 years are more violent. They do not respect even their own. The older prisoners used to do their time and get out. The older prisoners do not like the newer prisoners that are like that. Working at the prison for so long has changed me to not trust anyone. I am cynical. I was a happy go lucky guy.It has made me emotionless. I hope i can get back to close to normal. Thanks for that answer. Your work was not easy. PTSD of different magnitude or degree is everywhere, not just from war zone experiences. Life changes everybody but our essence doesn’t change. Uncover that original you again, he’s still there. Enjoy retirement. |

Not my style.I treat everyone with respect upon first meeting. I just went there to get a paycheck. It was difficult though. When a prisoner throws cum, piss shit at you i would kill them if i could have. There were cameras everywhere. You just would have to take it and write a ticket. . |

Kudos to you for being able to retire from it..... I guess I made the right decision.....the benefits looked nice, but the oppressive energy working there would slowly kill me.....I didn't like institutional work anyway, its all the same locks and hardware.....boring... Congrats on retirement. Yes when i worked at a level 1 prison for 1 year. Alot of them should not be in prison. Drug charges. No child support,to many drunk drivings . I met this black guy that got 4 years in prison on a cocaine charge. His white friend in college whose parents were rich got no jail even . Shit like that is sick. Never did make friends with an inmate. Just general talk. I worked on a prison work crew for 6 years. Some off the prisoners were some of the best carpenters, construction workers that got caught up in meth, alcohol. Worst. Big gang fight between the mexicans and the aryans over some fake heroin. Shanks involved. Many fights. Many suicide attempts Blood squirting all over the wall from a suicide attempt. Oh yeah self mutilation inmates. Saw some fucked up shit. . . |

I think many of the maximum security prisoners will never change. The horrible crimes of violence and torture toward other humans and animals.
