Why is it that the UK daily mail has better coverage of events in the United States then US news outlets usually do?
 Quoting: telling it straight

US media loves to control the narrative and keep the populace dumb and distracted. You won't get any "real" information from most US news outlets.

You didn’t have any briefing like that. Why don’t you tell us where you work?
 Quoting: Off Switch

If you read the first paragraph on page 1 it says what I do for work and In what part of the country.

Call bs all you want, I know the truth and if I help just one person I have done my job.

OP didn't see that you answered this before but are there suggestions you can make to us beyond the basic stuff to help us prepare? Not asking you to divulge anything from your meeting but you did mention you're making plans for your family so would appreciate your thoughts on this.
 Quoting: telling it straight

Have a primary and secondary bug out route and locations if the SHTF. Have you vehicles packed with big out gear and water. Keep the gas full. Also make sure you have any medications that you will need on hand.
 Quoting: RedDevil3056

What if you were just a Joe Citizen, without a badge or any particular ties to your city:

During this NCOV-19 crisis, what might trigger you to abandon your civilian job and bug out?

Employer can't make payroll due to the crisis?
Getting laid-off from work due to the crisis?
Economic crash due to massive trade shutdowns world-wide?
Knowledge of insane numbers of 'possibly infected' persons in your city or state?
Riots in your city or a neighboring city?
Breakdown of law & order in your city?
Extended blackout of power, water, sewage, trash pickup, Internet, cellular or other utilities?
Warning of an imminent city-wide quarantine or travel ban?
Presidential declaration of a 'National Health Emergency' (aka soft Martial Law)?
Observed deployment of the military around the city?
Military going Full-Retard Martial Law (FRML) & arresting or shooting a lot of people?
Deployment of UN or other foreign troops onto US soil to 'help out'?
Neighbors dropping dead in droves?
GLP gives a continuous '404 Page Not Found' error?
Other?

I just got back a little while ago from Home Depot and Lowe’s. There are no N95 masks, nitrile gloves and no respirators. This is in Eastern Massachusetts.
 Quoting: RedDevil3056

That’s interesting. I wonder who bought them. My son was at Home Depot and struck up a conversation with someone who works there. No masks etc there either. S. NH.

Honestly I don’t think it matters. If you’re not wearing a self contained bio suit your exposed.

Did you see the 001 thread pinned. It’s interesting. Helpful in understanding the science. Technically we’re F’d but ... it’s seems they’re trying. It also validated what you’ve shared.

They don’t want panic and rioting. Soooo...containment is not an option.
 Quoting: SkyTraveler

Another Southern NHer (ex-MA) here. Do you happen to know which Home Depot he tried? I'm just west of Nashua. I haven't been there to look, yet.

Hey there!

No sorry I don’t but please post what you find. You might want to go online first to see what HD has in your area.

I guess at this point I’m kind of giving up trying to protect against this virus. I feel it’s too late. I feel it’s been out there longer than we were aware. My goal is building my immune system and character. My experience in life has been it provide it provides me with the people and resources when it’s time. I just need to be in the flow.

Be well...who knows maybe our paths will cross someday.

I am no longer in LE but I still have a ton of friends in it. I got a forwarded email from one of them from his captain.
Mandatory gas fit testing was on Wednesday. They only fit test you when you are hired and never again. I have a feeling they are planning on civil unrest as well. They are saying one thing and doing another. You just gotta watch.

I am on the local EOC Team (logistics) and will be activated more than likely when it starts. I love the overtime but want to be home with my kid for this. I am so concerned...

My sister is an MD is in The Mid West , She handed out N95 masks and goggles to her grown kids last week and our family has been told to brace ourselves for the obvious reasons . We have very strong connections to LE and First Responders in several communities and I’m hearing the exact same thing from each of them . We in the Medical Fields already know what we are facing and soon everyone else will too.

Nice to see this from a medical professional. Most of them are towing the party line currently, i.e. no worse than the flu and far fewer deaths from it, etc. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to borrow this post for my nCoV intel thread.

Thanks. Good info. Of course there’s no real problem. From the article:

But in no way “does the planning indicate a greater likelihood of an event developing. As military professionals, planning for a range of contingencies is something we owe the American people," Navy Lt. Cmdr. Mike Hatfield said....”

And this is good too—a quote from the doctor in charge if the Nation Center for Health Immunization:

She said the biggest infectious disease threat to the American public this year remains the influenza virus, which has sickened more than 22 million and killed at least 12,000.
Precautions against the coronavirus, which include hand-washing, staying home if ill and sneezing or coughing into a tissue or sleeve, also cut down on flu transmission....”

I get that they don’t want us to start freaking out but seriously she makes it sound like the flu is worse than coronavirus.

Logan Airport has a plane from Texas landing at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts with an alert 2 at approximately 12:30pm today. It was said for “mechanical failure”, however one person was brought to the hospital (Massachusetts General Hospital) due to “illness” after the plane landed and everyone got off safely. My impression was they’re very concerned about this breaking loose. Possibly even knowing it has but are using this time to prep hospitals. Nuggets of truth were dropped within the medical terms and data explanations.

The CDC chicks voice was strained like she’d been talking for days.

They know it looks like the flu which masks it’s danger. I think she said next week their screening process would change. Testing kits were sent out to states. Once used revealed faults. She said...this is to be expected. (Competence is clearly not an expectation.) States are all dealing with this differently.

I liked the back and forth with the reporters. Reporters asked smart questions which at times were not fully answered. Like not being symptomatic and transmitting it around for 2 weeks plus.

Lots of discussion about repatriation of us citizens from cruise ships. And the ones who tested positive but remained with nonpositive people. There was clearly a divide between state dept and cdc. But they landed on a decision in real time and they’re one big happy team. (Personally I don’t think it mattered. The ones that were positive had tested negative two days prior but based on my research they were likely contagious and already passed it to others. This virus masks itself - I think.)

Bottom line...they’re afraid. But masked this by being medically and intellectually supportive to us dumb dumbs.

Can you share your alert level? Low medium high?

There has been no more briefings on this or too much chatter. I do know that most coworkers believe that nothing is going to happen over here.

My uncle is feeling better but still is having a hard time to breath and is on several medications. I did inquire what medications he was put in and there were no antivirals.

Re: COVID-19 Massachusetts UPDATE pg.33 / 105,059 CASES/ 7,538 RIP/ 689,111 tested/ 1,143 people hospitalized/ 276 people in ICU/ 170 intubated
We had another meeting today at work regarding the Corona Virus. Everything that was told to us before was reiterated again today. It was stressed again to get a flu shot if you have not already.

It is very odd that the flu shot keeps being brought up. Could the flu shot have something in it this year to counteract the Corona Virus?

Thank you Op! I jumped on the thread to ask you and you already beat me to it.

Not sure about the flu shot having protective qualities. I’ve heard various opinions most negative about flu shot. No facts though either way. Follow your gut.

They do push flu shot a lot in New England. Maybe they think it will calm nerves?

Make sure they’re giving proper equipment.

Any new cases on the down low?

Stay safe!!!!

I might be way behind the times, but I just learned the swine flu is now common and wide spread. We had no immunity to that new strain of flu called the swine flu and it is included in all flu vaccines now. I wonder what that means to us old folks that have not had it yet or ever had a flu shot? Will this new covid19 turn into a common flu like the swine flu did?

I did hear the CDC say this is unlike anything they have seen before and should not be treated as the swine flu or SARS.

Flu shot doesn't prevent corona virus. So wtf is that about?

Minimizes the people needing care from the flu when another virus is going around.

*******************

Also doesn't put people out of commission(quarantine)if they

have

been "exposed to you" and you only have the flu.
