Any Pilots Out There?
I live North of Beale AFB and Sac Exec airport.

Last night, I saw in the distance what looked like a large plane with all red bright lights flashing.

Just now, a large plane flying fairly low, slow and quiet was also with red wing light, but bright red large light flashing under its belly.

Bith these planes were coming from north direction heading south to one of the two above destinations (my guess)

Do they use those light like that if they are having some kind of malfunction and needing to come in priority?

Always wanted to know about what the different light displays meant.

Don't normally see the all reds type, though.

Re: Any Pilots Out There?
Red wing light is the lefy side position light. LRRG.
Left Red, Right Green, Tail White.

Flashing red on belly and on top are Anti-Collision and turned on prior to Engine start, and off at engine shutdown.

Strange as the plane were in air flying. Any other reason for those red belly lights to be on?

I have seen many times as the planes take off/get ready to land, they would have those really bright white belly lights on. But this is red belly light.

I know one side has a small red on wing and other side has green on wing, which tells which side of plane that is.

The plane tonight was actually flying nice and easy almost directly over my area.

Red "belly" light is anti-collision. It's on anytime the engines are turning and burning. In flight the enines are running, so it's on.
On prior to engine start, and off after engine shutdown. As explained above.

You're welcome.

Who wants to know how 'airplanes' are really piloted?

The did not call the driving section a COCK PIT for no apparent reason.

I think Durden is involved. hmm

I'm only a pilot and fly when I've had anywhere between 6-8 shots of peppermint schnapps in a row. Like now. So yes, when I'm drunk I constantly fly those long, tube-shaped things with those two metal wing-like things sticking out of the sides (whatever these vehicles are called).
