I woke up and got out of the wrong side of the bed with a heart of stone.
I looked outside and it was raining cats and dogs so I went into by bottles and ended up three sheets to the wind.
Even being as drunk as a skunk I managed to stay busy as a Bee and got my groove on.
I had cabin fever so I decided to throw my cares to the wind and take the road less traveled but I came to a fork in the road.

The adventure continues.

Yet I bet you tend to have a soft spot in your heart for a person who in reality is greedy, tricky and unethical, but at least has the veneer of a liberal/leftwinger.

Be honest. The Limousine Liberals and Champagne Socialists of America and world tend to not make you feel quite so angry and resentful.

Thank you! I knew that the analogy meant to rely on yourself to solve your own problems, but I never thought about what a boot strap was. Wow— so there is such a disconnect of milenials to this concept that their minds can’t even comprehend the analogy. Rich people also had servants to help them up on their horses so the analogy probably has more to it. There were probably rich people who would feel humiliated to have to bootstrap themselves up on their horses; whereas cowboys and regular people take pride in being able to do things themselves. Two kinds of people! It IS hard to advance relying only on yourself and may have been harder in the past for black people to bootstrap themselves. But I’m convinced that hard work is the only way to gain moral character. It seems to me that people who rely on rich relatives or the government have no moral character. It is more than obvious that anyone who worked hard has moral character and those that didn’t work hard in their life don’t have any moral character. I’m convinced that money that falls in your lap has a corrupting power and is not good for human beings. The whole point of money is that it is meant to be an exchange for goods and services. When the two concepts are disassociated there are always moral issues. There are those who are in service to self and those who are in service to others. BIG difference! The ones who had the experience of hard work are also the “silent majority”. The silent majority is silent because they generally do not have extra time on their hands to talk talk talk. We are too busy working and raising families.

Mom only made about 20 grand a year by the time I was 17 and had to raise two daughters on far less than that

Had to be the “mother” to my younger sister because my mom worked

Started babysitting at 12 for 25 cents an hour

Worked and paid my way through college, I did receive Dean’s list scholarships every year of about 2500

My dad and grandfather are very wealthy, both self made, but their second families enjoyed that not us

Never borrowed a cent from relatives

Bought, fixed up and and sold houses so that I could finally build the house I wanted to

Sold my company about 10 years ago and don’t have to work if I don’t want to
