You know when you question "Why are you doing that when we already know it doesn't work?"
Either the answer is you're dealing with idiots in authority, or the desired outcome they are going for isn't the one you think it is.
If
A) a high fever only becomes present when someone with the virus begins to have organ trouble, i.e. becomes serious,
+
B) if people are being screened for fever...which they are at airports, borders, in some quarantine cities

The answer to "Why are they fever screening when it doesn't screen for the virus or help with containment, it only tags severe cases?" is:
C) we are past containment, they are simply doing triage and trying to target the cases who are going to need emergency treatment
