I have used Sambucol (Black Elderberry Syrup) for myself and family members for more than 20 years to stop influenza A or B from replicating. It is effective within 3 days. There is NIH research that backs this up.

My question is: is there any possibility that it would also stop the replication of the Corona virus? Conversely, could it amplify an undesirable response?

However some of the things on that list are known to help in cytokine storm.

For example:

Gingseng:

Ginseng targets the inflammatory players

There is evidence that ginseng has potent effects on key players in the inflammatory cascade (Fig. 1). For example, ginsan, a polysaccharide extracted from P. ginseng, showed inhibition of s, the p38 MAP kinase pathway, and NF-κB in vitro and inhibition of proinflammatory cytokines in vivo

Ginger is complex in that it modulates immune and combats cytokines causing inflammation.

And you search for garlic it also helps.

Basically those are some of the arsenals, including tea, l-theanine, alpha lipoic acid, oil of oregano, thyme, there were quite a few that were helpful.

Also CBD.

Anyway you'd have to do a search through each of them.

Ginger is the good one, gingseng has something in it that suppresses cytokine while at the same time overall it increases, but modulates immune system.
