Re: So I was at Walmart and an employee told me......( Wu-flu).....
Most stuff from China is manufactured in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. These are now closed and under quarantine.

Consider, 93% of everything in Walmarts is MADE IN CHINA.

It takes 15 to 30 days for "stuff" to cross the Pacific.

So, in 15 days, Walmarts will start running out of "stuff".
As will auto-spares.
And Canadian Tire.
And Target.
And Dollar Tree
And Dollarama.
Etc. Etc. Etc.

And, even where stuff is made in USA' Canada, France, Britain etc. when people cannot get the cheap Chinese version, they will buy the more expensive version if they need to.

So, goods will run out. Not a single kettle under $1,000 is now made outside of China. Same for Xmas and other decorations.

And stuff necessary to crack crude oil and pump stuff at the gas bar will run out, creating gas shortages and interrupted delivery for non-Chinese goods.

So, in 15 to 30 days EXPECT...

- Empty shelves.
- Major stores like Walmart and Canadian Tire to close.
- Panic buying
- Gas shortages
- Massive inflation resulting in...
- Strikes and industrial disruption, hence, worsening shortages.

America can make it all. You think this will have a big impact? Oh, no, we will adjust very quickly and thrive.

Good. We need less Chinese crap.

Are you aware that the polymers for plastic in every disposable diaper, bottle, bag, bin, etc, are made in Asia?

Your yoghurt cups, shampoo bottles, on and on and on? Car parts? China is the manufacturing power of the world and 80% of that is shut.

I don't like being dependent on China either, but geeze dude, go buy some plastic bottles of peanut butter and whatever else will keep a while. Advil and flu meds and vitamin C- China makes over 90% of that.

I can't even imagine what the future holds. It could be really bad for months even if you don't catch the Kung flu.

I do not think they realize it. And if some of them do realize they do not want to hear that. Now the current trend on GLP is badmouthing of China blaming Chinese for ... almost everything. Haven't you noticed?

Re: So I was at Walmart and an employee told me......( Wu-flu).....
.....that all the employees have been notified that big shortages are coming, but they don't exactly which items.

He waved his hand to the back where electronics are and "see that wall? Its all China". Then he waved up towards the front and said to me that practically the whole store is from China.

I knew that already, but I was surprised the employees had been informed about supply line interruptions already.

I went up to the baggies and got involved in a conversation with another guy stocking shelves. He said maybe Glad wrap was made in the USA, he thought that Glad might be the only USA plastic they had, and then he started looking at the back of all the boxes to see if he could find origins. They tend to just say distributed by Wal Mart. It was kind of funny the way he was desperately looking for "made in the USA" and it isn't there. I loaded up on ziplock freezer bags and more plastic wrap and foil. Can't hurt to stash more than what I have already.

Don't wait, if it comes in a plastic bottle or bag. Get it as soon as you can. 80% of China's industrial manufacturing has shut down.
